Foam rubber for rear storage bins?

I was thinking about molding some high density foam rubber into the 2 bins in the rear and making some cut outs for a camera storage or possibly a pistol storage when traveling. I'm not sure how I'd mold the foam to fit in the curvy bins. Has anyone tried anything like this? I'm open to suggestions. I could either use layers and hot glue them together in the shape I want or maybe get a large thick piece and cut and shape it into the shape of the bin, then make some cut out shapes for a camera or for a gun. There must be some crafty folks out there that have some great ideas.

I've seen the type where you have a bag, fill it up with foam, seal it, and now you have a mold-able bag. You can push it into the storage bins and then take a camera and mash it into it. when it dries, you have a block that will fit into the space.

Though I think they are more or so for packaging. Probably wouldn't look too good.

What about the cube foam? It's the foam that comes in the Pelican cases and you can rip out the cubes until you get the form you want.

I am not familiar with that. But it sounds like what I am looking for. Where would I look for cube foam?

Kind of like this:

Orion Extra Cubed Foam for Aluminum Case #5977 | Orion Telescopes

Somehow, the small foam cubes are stuck to each other and they kind of peal apart. They can't go back together afterwards though. I had to pack a case in Afghanyland and got ahold of this stuff. Made the case organised and custom.

You might be better taking out the plastic bins to get some more room. The foam might not "stay" still sitting in the plastic.

Take the designated area. Put something to separate it from the foam... Like cooking wax paper. Then fill the entire area with expanding poly foam. Let it expand and dry. Cut excess. Pull foam out, remove wax paper. Put foam in, mold desires items into foam. Then paint foam to desired color. Enjoy.
