2014 Jeep GC Laredo vs. Limited HELP!!

Very new to this forum and new to researching about Jeeps. I have been looking (i'd say obsessing) about a full size SUV and narrowed down my search between the Jeep GC and the Toyota 4-Runner. I am more than 90% sure I will go will a Jeep, considering all of the specs & pricing.

Now to my question... I need some advice, help, guidance, or anything to help me. I was curious as to the main difference between the Laredo and Limited?

I know this is such a basic questions, and I am a "noob" in this forum, but can you customize a Laredo to wear it has the same features as the Limited (maybe even cheaper)?

Help please!!

As a starting point, view this PDF, it will show you the standard and optional features of the Laredo and Limited models: http://www.wk2jeeps.com/2014/2014_wk...ailability.pdf

The base Laredo model will not start production until July. The Laredo "E" model is in production now.

For pricing of the Laredo and Limited see this thread: http://www.jeepgarage.org/f73/2014-g...ing-52937.html

If you want cloth, you have to get a Laredo, everything else has leather. If you want anything else besides a v6 you have to et a limited or higher, you can option up the Laredo but at that pont you would almost be at the cost for a limited. It depends on your budget. For the options we wanted on a Laredo vs the limited the difference was about 5k out the door. That would be a Laredo with all weather group, towing package, and cd player vs the limited with the towing and cd player, but we didn't need the extra options so there wasn't a point in spending the extra money.

I would strongly recommend the towing package on any GC.

Also you can think of the base Laredo as what you would get in the last century, it is a "loss leader" to be able to advertise a price under $30k. The "E" adds most modern amenities.

Keep in mind that for 2014, CJF dramatically limited "dealer added options" in electronics. If it does not come with the car, it is deliberately impossible to add.

Of course for me, all I need is an AUX jack and an OBD-II connector (and am working with a 10.1" display).

Thanks padgett, this was helpful.

Why exactly do you recommend the towing package on any GC?

Also guys, this is exactly what I am looking for:

A daily drive to work (commute 24 miles each way)- so some what descent gas millage
I am currently driving a 06' Honda CR-V (20c/25h MPG)
I drive to Tahoe frequently, so 4x4 is a MUST
I definitely want a bigger engine than the CR-V's sub 200 hp and Torque
I would love Nav and Leather
All in all, I would love to spend less than $40,000

Those are all my needs, is any, if all, attainable?

Well the Limited has a MSRP of about 39K with destination, invoice of about 37K. So you should easily meet your price objective.

The limited is a nice vehicle, has leather and nav can be added for ~$400 if it doesn't already have it..

The WK2 is heavy, so I dunno about your mpg expectations. Dunno how the new transmission will impact real world mpg, but I would expect less than 20mpg with the V6, less than 18 with the V8.

see: http://wk2jeeps.com/2014/2014_wk2_fe...ailability.pdf for feature comparisons

That is the Limited without the Lux package. To get the Nav without Lux would be $795 MSRP ($708 Invoice).

I have exactly the same needs as you, save for 4x4 which would be nice but I've gotten along well without it.

The 2013 base Laredo is a steal IMO because you can add the dual climate panel, your own good aftermarket NAV and leather in any color you want and have a great truck. If it weren't for the 8-speed, which I expect to be a massive improvement, I would have done it.

2014's are a lot harder to upgrade, so you might be forced into a Limited for in-dash navigation. That being said, Google Navigation on any smartphone is pretty damn good, so if you can make that sacrifice... Dual climate appears standard now and a shop can add whatever leather color and quality you want. If you are happy with the standard Laredo features, go aftermarket on leather and can give up NAV and the big in-dash screen you'll save a lot of cash I think.

Either way, your 40k budget should be fine.
