Oil leak

I have a WJ grand Cherokee with the world famous 4.0 and when it sits with the engine running I can smell burning oil in the cabin. I'm 98% sure the valve cover gasket is leaking and it's burning on the block or falling onto the exhaust pipe or something along that line. Is there anything else it could be or is there anything I should know before I tear into it? Let me know, thanks.

Re: Oil leak

dont go guessing where its coming from, clean it up real good being careful not to get electronic parts and fuel system saturated as best as possible than idle it and look for the source. have you tried tightening the valve cover yet? dosent take alot of torque to tighten it maybe like 15lbs but im sure a google search will answer that
