Second oil change, now I have oil drip spots on my carport

I guess I'm now part of the GC owners with not so good service experience. I went for an oil change during the lunch break, drove back to work and an hour or so later drove home. My wife comes home and pointed to the oil drip spots under my GC. This is just upsetting.

I had the same experience after my first oil change at the dealership. My garage floor and bottom of my GC had oil spots similar to what your photos show. I took off the plastic shield under the engine and cleaned it up. There were no leaks from the engine, just sloppy service work. Since then I've done my own oil changes (easy to do in OR II height).

yeah...theres a plastic shield on these that thew oil flows onto and into the oil collection containers.

I hope that all of the drops on the concrete are from the same place on your Jeep, and only because you parked in different spots!
Regerdless, I would be back in that service bay with a quickness. Although I would be irritated, I wouldn't show it. Just let them know whats up and that you would like it cleaned up and verified that there aren't any leaks. While it sucks, it could have been a new kid on the team. He might not know any better. Hopefully he (or she) can learn from it so it doesn't happen again.

Are you talking about the air dam or the little shield around the oil filter? Because if they didn't remove the air dam I just might let my irritation show

If you take it back I'd also have them check to see if the oil drain plug is snug. It probably is, but just in case...

Defective gasket was the reason I was told. It did not seat right and caused oil to spray with pressure. It took them longer to clean the oil mess than replacing the gasket.

Same thing happened to me but in my case the filter was loose and about to fall off! Got it fixed, oil refilled and cleaned up as well. Glad this all worked out in the end for you.

Cheap spin on filters don't have the gasket well attached to the filter so it tends to stick to the mounting surface. Its a common error to spin a new filter on over the old gasket. Fill the engine with oil and start it up and you'll make a huge mess. I'm guessing that's what happened.

Having done the first two oil changes myself - inspite of lifetime free changes at the dealer, I would bet on mechanic error considering they used Mopar parts.

No spin-on oil filter on the 3.6.

Yeah I didn't read his profile when I commented. Must have been a huge mess leaking from the top-mounted filter.

I always pull the engine cover off to access the filter and oil fill. Otherwise it's too easy to spill something down there. With the cover off it's an easy, clean job.
