Tranny Lines covered by Lifetime Warranty?

I Pulled the front pan to do a diff fluid swap this evening and noticed tranny fluid lingering everywhere on the front end. Found that the wonderful Mopar compression fittings on the lines for the tranny cooler are leaking where the rubber meets the metal at the cooler ends (similar problem on the steering lines for the similarly designed hoses that leaked on my 02 Ram - rubber shrinks apparently and the fitting leaks).

Before I perform the "Official Dodge repair for a Ram" (they actually did this under warranty on my truck at one dealer) and put a hose clamp over the end to stop the hemorrhage of ATF, does anyone know if these hoses are covered under the Lifetime Powertrain warranty? 38k miles, just out of warranty... would prefer to have a new hose installed so I don't have to rely on a hose clamp on top of a hose not designed for a clamp to keep it together or shell out big bucks for the hose.

For future reference, is there a good resource for "everything covered" listed online anywhere?

Thanks
Greg

Mine is doing the same thing right now. I'm not sure if the warranty covers this, but I do know the replacement hoses cost around $55. Sometime in the near future I am going to go in and ask them if it's covered, but they will probably give me a ton of crap about my Jeep being modified. When in fact it's just a crap design like you said.

Mine is doing the same thing. I've heard that it is a common problem on jeeps.

Go to your local hydralic specialist, they will make up some braided steel hoses that will neve leak again

Suspect that the cost may be less than factory

In the uk I would start with http://www.hosequip.com/

I have the 5.7 - I'll try to get a picture of the area of concern but its going to be a few days before I'm free to climb under it again. In the meantime I'm just watching the fluid level daily.

I like the "Go to your local hydralic specialist, they will make up some braided steel hoses that will never leak again" idea, probably solve that problem once and for all. But, I hate warranties and companies who look for any damn loophole to cancel one - hence my research before using the piss poor but effective solution of applying hose clamps around the area that fails.

Re: Tranny Lines covered by Lifetime Warranty?

By the way - as far as I have found so far, these lines are not covered according to the very vague "whats covered" info they gave me with the Jeep. When I purchased Chrysler extended warranty for my Ram, they listed EVERY component covered for every category - this thing is way too vague and I think its on purpose. Still, if I can ever have a day go smooth... I'm going to be calling to inquire as to whether they're covered. $10 says it will end with them saying "bring it in and let us have a look at it" because they think I'm too dumb to see where fluid is leaking since I don't have a pretty ASC patch on my shirt (not that I'm knocking real mechanics or anything).
