Water under floor

Hi Guys,
Anybody had to drain water from under the floor? I have trawled the whole forum but cannot find exactly where the drain plugs are. I have a couple of suspicions where the water is coming from and its been as wet as hell recently, but now have the sloshing as I corner, sloshing between the drivers and passenger side....not under the seat..but somewhere in the floor pan. Cheers.

Battery box or Box under the Passenger seat?
Or in Sills?

Re: Water under floor

I've heard occasional sloshing (2-3 times in 18 mo) in the same place. To me it sounds like quite a volume of liquid so I thought it was the fuel tanks... There is a TSB that predates our vehicles regarding fuel tank sloshing I think in the v6 which has a slightly different capacity. So I figured there must be a similar issue albeit less frequent. I'll be interested if you find out anymore. Cheers mendo

It's a long thread, but if you're having this problem, it's worth "wading" through.

:lol::lol::lol:No.....but don't mention the new Mizuno driver hidden under a blanket in the boot!!!! Water's under the floor towards the pedals sloshing from drivers side to passengers side. By swerving the car side to side, you can hear there must be a good few litres in there. I'm taking off a cover plate passenger side today just behind the quad lift pipe gaurd and seeing if anything can be pulled out. Theres a YOUTUBE vid on one thread but it's a bit unlear where the guy pulls out the plug. Keep you posted........and "mums the word" on the new golf club!!!

Update....spent a bit of time on it today, can find any drain holes...but... the water sloshing is actually behind the dash!! Possibly in some cavity beneath the windscreen? The mats inside the car are dry so not over concerned just yet. Will check out the sunroof drains when it eventually stops raining......maybe June:(

Good find! The pics in the last few posts are great. I'll be checking my A/C drain ASAP and regularly thereafter. I can't think of anything worse for the car's longevity than having water sloshing about in cavities... which the WKs has many.

Re: Water under floor

Guys,
Need a favour. When you are idling with the AC on, can you tell me approximately where the condensation drips from....ie does it come from a tube around the "bash plates" or as in my case, from the wrong side of the heat shield where the transfer case bump is? The heat sheild is soaking so I suspect maybe the AC condensation cannot escape the car. (PS carpets and boxes under the seats are dry, but I do have loads of water somewhere buried in the dash....wonder if the condensation is backed up. Any help, much appreciated.

Mine doesn't drip either but from the pictures on the post above fromJacko51 it seems to drain through a tube from the dash exiting on the passenger side transmission tunnel in the foot well. Mine appears attached and guessing it is passing as you say onto the card boardy plate in front of the transmission and being absorbed and hence not dripping!!??

Thanks. Googled water behind dash and all things point to a block AC drain. I'm suprised the other side of the drain housing shown on the photo is not connected to a rubber pipe directing the water away from the heatshield. As you say, it gets saturated!

Re: Water under floor

RESULT! Water trapped in a crumple zone within the dashboard. It got in through an inedequate seam adjacent to the funnel that catches water either side of the wiper cowl. Water has been cleared and the seam resealed. Thanks to Craig and his team at Albion.
