loud braking type noise everything I stop and front end angles up

When my vehicle slows down from applying my brakes my jeeps front end angles to the ground .. when it comes to a stop the front end comes up as it does with every car... when the vehicle comes up it makes a lot of noise
I'm not sure how to explain the noise. It's a deep jerk noise or ahard breaking sounds... traction control type of noise. Happens if I brake hard or soft but as long as the front end comes up a bit it happens

I played with e brake pedal to make sure it wasn't engaged a bit, also turned traction control off but it won't stop

If I apply the brakes hard (but don't come to a stop where the front end comes up) it doesn't make the noise

If I rock the front end (jumping on front bumper type) it doesn't make the noise

Do you live in the frozen north? Ice/salt/snow can cause binding and all kinds of interesting noises in the suspension.

Well, I live in Florida but didn't notice the noise till after a trip to the mountains in wv. I had a rock stuck in the back rotor from up there... but it's been in fl for a week and been through the wash but still hear it (front wheels) I'm actually waiting for it right now in the service station for tire rotation and oil change. I told the guy and they just called me and told me vehicles done but they didn't hear the noise, suggestions on something to look for it to tell them?

Tell them what it is doing, making noise when the suspension is compressed and then extends. With it on a lift they should b able to visually inspect for rocks, grit, etc in the bushing area, dust cover over the strut, etc. you might just have something stuck inside the strut dust cover on one side or another.

Ok thank you, could that cause any damage? There real service department isn't open just the express so they'll probably want be to take it back wonder if I could just take a pressure washer to it...

If the noise is that loud, you could eventually do permanent damage, especially if you do have something stuck up in between the strut dust cover and the piston for the shock.

You best bet is to just shimmy under there and look for rocks, sticks, etc. squeeze the dust cover on the strut with you hand (plastic cover inside the coil spring over the shock) and see if anything falls out. Check the sway bar area as well. Hard to explain but if you google how a front strut suspension works, you'll see the various parts and where things move relative to each other. If it was fine before you hit the gravel and making noise afterwards, you have to have something stuck somewhere.

I would not recommend hitting it with a pressure washer, you can drive dirt and grit into a lot of areas it does not belong.
