V6 WK 5spd vs V6 WK2 8spd
So now that the diesel is delayed again,I'm seriously reconsidering my purchase. Back to basics, one of the reasons for the upgrade is our '06 WK V6 can't get out of its own way. That said, I was automatically going for the Hemi for more power, or the CRD for more power and mpg.

Any idea if the new V6 and new 8spd will be a significant improvement over my '06? If so, I may just go with that and save a few dollars and mpg.

The 3.6 will walk the 3.7 in any year.

The 5speed in 3.6.same trans as the srt the 3.7 IMHO worst jeep motor. It has 80hp less than the 3.6

Re: V6 WK 5spd vs V6 WK2 8spd
The 3.7L V6 has absolutely nothing to do with the 3.6L V6. Apples and oranges!

3.7L V6 = 210 hp / 235 lb·ft
3.6L V6 = 290 hp / 260 lb·ft

The 3.6L Pentastar is an amazing engine. Combine it with the new 8-speed ZF-based tranny and it will perform magnificently.

The 3.6 was a great engine coupled to a bad tranny in the first gen WK2. The 8 speed performs so flawlessly in the 14 it becomes an afterthought and you just soak up the rest of the experience.

Great to hear, thanks all! I look forward to test driving one when they get here. It would save me about $5k I could use to upgrade my Subaru!

I've driven the V6 / 8-speed and it has a lot of usable power and responsiveness. It doesn't want for power at all.
