has anyone installed one? is the filter holder in the car already or does it have to be purchased from the dealer? i have an air filter but do not know if i need anything else. any help would be appreciated. from wkjeeps it looks like i have to purchase it but i just wanted to check.

Yeah you need to add the holder, goes under the air vent on the passenger side, right in the back of the hood / wiper area. $50 or so for the whole kit from justforjeeps i believe!

TURN OFF YOUR A/C BEFORE TURNING OFF YOUR JEEP PRIOR TO DOING THIS INSTALL!!!

I didn't turn mine off and it left the passage way open and I dropped a piece down the vent and never found it.

After the install it sounds like a plane is about to take off when I put it on high.

Well turn the heater off too. It closes the passage way off.

nice write up!

the cabin air filter appears to be paper based. how does it hold up to water? I'm guessing it gets wet when the engine compartment is washed or even from rain water.

it feels like the same material as regular air filters, it is pretty sturdy
