crd will not turn over

my 05 crd was fine when i parked it half an hour ago i returned to it and it is as dead as doornail.

all the lights and checks are fine but it will not turn over at all

i have tried moving the shift into neutral, disconnecting the battery, swearing(a lot),

it makes a whirring but no solid clicks.

i assume its electrical but hey its a jeep who knows?
where should i be looking?

I'm not a mechanic, but I've driven vehicles that have done that, and at times they for some reason the gear selector doesn't get into park properly. I've had to take it out of park several times, but got it to work, and it never happened again.

I don't know the KJ, but it probably has the starter relay in the power distribution center under the hood. If this relay clicks when trying to start, most probably the problem is in the starter solenoid or solenoid wiring. When no click can be heard (its a small relay, so it doesn't make a lot of noise), the problem can be in the park/neutral safety switch. On the WJ CRD this switch is in the shifter assy, on the? KJ i don't know. Also check the fuses.
