Water enters near heater core at Car Wash!
I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 5.7L Hemi. Whenever I go to a particular car wash that sprays water from the sides, hitting the under carriage, water seems to enter my Jeep and hit the heater core. It sounds like water is hitting it and boiling off. Sometimes the fan/AC controls act strange for a little while after going through the car wash. I also notice a small squeal in my AC/Heater fan which I think has been caused by water entering previously.

This only happens if water is sprayed up from the bottom. Where could the water be getting in? I would REALLY like to prevent this from happening in the future.

Are you sure the water is coming in from the underside?

I haven't heard of that one before, and can't think of where the water would be getting access...

What is a little more common is in the winter for the drain tubes of the sun roof to become clogged with ice, and then when the car wash sprays the TOP of the vehicle and water enters through the sunroof, with the drain tubes clogged it leaks down the A-Pillar and eventually ends up behind the dash. Not saying that's what your problem is though...

Re: Water enters near heater core at Car Wash!
I gave up on this for a while, but it is frustrating me again. If I go through a car wash that doesn't spray the undercarriage I don't have any problems. There is one car wash imparticular that sprays from both sides toward the wheels at the entrance. If I drive fast through that part I usually don't have any problems. If I go slow I know water got in when I finally pull out of the car wash. I hear what sounds like cold water hitting a hot part and sizzling. One time the blower motor got water in it so I took it off and dumped it out. Now I have started having problems with the fan controls. When I turn the fan off it stays on high speed. When I put it on high it goes to low. The rest of the fan settings are somewhere in between. Any ideas regarding where the water is coming in and what is causing the fan speed control to malfunction? Thanks!
