Red Eagle Power Pack - Transmission Rebuild
Has anyone here upgraded their transmission? I looked at getting the Sharadon Stage II tranny, but it's just going to be too pricey. The price isnt too bad, I save tax, but add shipping + Install. The real concern is warranty. Sharadon understandably doesnt have one. If i have my transmission rebuilt locally i've been offered warranties ranging from 12-36 months. So i am now considering just having mine rebuilt with some upgrades to it.

The Sharadon tranny utilizes upgraded clutch packs (along with several other things i am sure). I just want something a bit stronger than stock, but i dont think i need anything too pumped up. If the stock 545RFE is totally fine at 500-550hp levels, then i bet i'd be fine. So i am looking at just using the better clutch packs and probably increasing the line pressure. I think these two things would allow me to launch hard regularly without worry, and these upgraded packs are only slightly more expensive than the oem level packs. If labor is the same either way, seems like a no brainer.

Has anyone here used these Red Eagle clutch packs or this line booster? (down just a bit from the top of the page)

Re: Red Eagle Power Pack - Transmission Rebuild
I've used Red Eagle clutches in Allison transmissions with very good luck and wouldn't think twice about using them in this trans.

Re: Red Eagle Power Pack - Transmission Rebuild
The guy rebuilding the transmission wants to stick with oem parts since he's giving me a 12month warranty. I ordered one of those line pressure boosters which should be easy to remove in the event i need to take advantage of that warranty ;)

Re: Red Eagle Power Pack - Transmission Rebuild
Ha! Found another guy to build up the tranny for cheap! I just ordered those clutches and the transgo performance kit. If i get a 2nd gear scratch on my BFG MT's ill be pumped! lol

I think while the cross member under the tranny it out, im going to have him install my maganflow muffler and do it in the true dual style. Cant wait to get it back, then hopefully not much longer and ill have the dyno tune and can finally beat the snot out of this thing!

Re: Red Eagle Power Pack - Transmission Rebuild
I'm not sure we would benefit from boosting the line pressure. The computer will monitor the shift time and adjust it to make it consistent. So even with the higher line pressure, our trans will learn to shift softly. From what I understand, you will need to reprogram. Please correct me if I am wrong. I don't want to spread misinformation.

Re: Red Eagle Power Pack - Transmission Rebuild
Well i went to check up on the progress yesterday in the morning and again in the evening. Plan is to have it done Friday. He's picking up the new torque converter, solenoid pack, and some misc seals and gaskets today.

Getting a new one of these:

Random Broken plastic washer, not sure where the broken off piece ended up!

3rd Gear Clutch

Stock clutch that is still in decent shape, 3rd used to look like his

Re: Red Eagle Power Pack - Transmission Rebuild
lol Yes lots of parts lately... Hopefully this is the last of them. I'm excited about the Transgo kit. I've read many reviews on it and most were good but most only did the valve body parts. Since the tranny is out all parts of it will be used including the snap ring and the pump springs, not sure if those make a difference or not but we'll see :D Plus with the improved grabbing power of the new clutch packs im really hoping for a noticeable change doing it all at once.

Re: Red Eagle Power Pack - Transmission Rebuild
That'll be sice. Are you considering supercharger or turbo?

Re: Red Eagle Power Pack - Transmission Rebuild
Nah we talked about that during the engine build. The plan was to keep this thing stock! If i was considering force induction they were going to lower the compression, but since i wanted to stay NA they raised it to 10.5:1 which wouldnt be ideal to get the most out of a turbo or S/C, plus they're expensive!
