New Buyer and Modification Questions

Hey all, I am new, I previosuly owned a 2004 Grand Cherokee that I had lifted 3", and had 31's on it. Now I am looking at either the 2013 Trailhawk or Limited, or a 2014 Diesel Limited... Here's my conundrum:

What type of modifications can be done with the Quadra-Lift system?

Can I have larger Off-Road capable tires (than stock) on a quadra-lift Trailhawk or Limited?

Should I go with a 2013/2014 without the Quadra-lift and lift myself?

I miss off-roading, and am lookign forward to it very much - but want to make sure I purchase the right vehicle, and know what I can and cannot do to it for off-road modifications. Thanks everyone!

Re: New Buyer and Modification Questions

I dont know much about wk2s .. especially with this new quadra lift system, but I know they make very limited kits for them.. probably only a 2" lift. I've seen them.. maybe rro makes them? but im fairly certain thats all they have AS OF NOW for them..

so if youre into serious offroading.. not so sure on the options with wk2.. could always look for a really nice 2010 overland and then superlift it. DAMN, thats nice just thinking about that.

I am with Tranzone on that I don't know much about the WK2 as I do the WK but it is my understanding that you can not lift a WK2 that is equipped with QL or put bigger tires on it because it always returns to stock height.

If you can find one without QL, then the only lift on the market that I am aware of is the 2.5 inch Rocky Road Outfitters lift.

Jeep Grand Cherokee lift kit, 2011, 2012 - Suspension lift

As mentioned you might be better off with a 2010 or earlier because at least that has the 4 inch Superlift as an option which can fit 33's or 35's if modified.

Thanks all for the replies! Looks like we are going to purchase the 2014 Limited with the Diesel engine.

Now I am just torn between the Off-Road Adventure I and II options - as the Quadra-Lift comes in the II - but so does the other nice options like heavy duty engine cooling, and the electronic limited slip differential...

I see it can fit P265/50R20 tires - even with the QL - so, I am trying to find decent tires that are off-road capable and give the Jeep that nice look.

I can't actually order the Diesel until April 20, so I need to scour these forums for advice on what people think of the QL on the 2011-2013 models for off-roading, etc.

Thanks!

I have a WK2 and skipped the quadra lift. I went for the springs as it is the only version that can be lifted. Dobinsons have a lift for it available now and also ARB have been developing a 2 inch lift kit for the last twelve months. They are still in testing before releasing which hopefully will be in the next month or two. I also was able to fit Cooper AT3 LT 275/65/18 tires. I have the diesel and it makes a great touring vehicle. I tow a 1,400 kg camper trailer and get great mileage.

I'm trying to replicate the trailhawk ll concept minus the new model GC. Mine is a 2012 just bought me some rubicon rims for cheap n was also planning on lifting it.. Was thinking about going with rro, I wonder if those companies mentioned above r cheaper to buy from

The dobinsons website don't show prices

You can have tires that are up to 32" with Quadra-Lift. Some people have experienced rubbing at this height, some haven't, but apparently it isn't that hard to cut back/mold the liner so that the rubbing goes away.

I am awaiting a quote for Dobinsons but the ARB likely to be benefiting from much more engineering. They are doing extensive testing.

Has there been any reviews on rro design.. Also a curious question... Has anyone ever tried Mounting a fj cruiser roof rack on a GC
