Hey guys can you trell me anything about the PowerLoc LSD's. I read on JP magazine online article that it is a heavier duty version of the Trac Loc but they also go on to pretty much bag LSD's as no better than an open diff offroad. (Not interested in that argument)

So I want to know if they fit the rear of the WJ and if they are actually better than the Trac Loc. I see on their web site they have 3 listings for the Dana 44 but don't really expand on which 44. However in their installation kit section they list a kit under Dana44 V as fitting WJ/ZJ 96-03 but also Excalibur and Dodge Viper.

I would ask them but they don't do email.

I had an auto locker to put in originally but I have the CRD with the Merc gearbox and it can't handle the way the auto locker works and guys who have installed them have had issues with the gearbox dropping into limp mode after tight turns on bitumen. So my only option is a Trac Loc but now I've come across the Power Loc I'm wondering if it fits if it is a bit stronger in it's locking action than the Trac Loc. I also guess I've got be a bit cautious that it is not too agressive and gives similar problems to the auto locker.

Can anyone shed light on them for me.

Have you ever considered one of the factory vari locks out of a Quadra Drive WJ? That should coexist well with your trans. You could get lucky and find a front and rear at a boneyard near you for a decent price.

Not here in Australia I won't. In the WJ vintage the CRD is not that common even here. For say 300 WJ's in online sales there might be half a dozen CRD's to V8's. That transpires to very few if any at wrecking yards and if they do crop up a single diff alone could be $1,000. The CRD also runs different ratios to V8's so can't use one of those. Hence my only option now the auto locker is ruled out is a LSD.
