Advanced Technology Group - Worth it?

Just wondering everyone's thoughts on the Technology Group.

I can either wait a few weeks (or more) for my Overland on order, or get one tomorrow with the Advanced Technology Group.

I don't imagine myself ever using the adaptive cruise, but you never know. Blind spot monitoring could be pretty cool, and forward collision warning seems more annoying than anything.

That being said, do you think it'll be an attractive feature for resale when the time comes? Would it be worth having for the sole purpose of resale?

Thanks,

Andrew

Nothing is worth having for the sole purpose of resale. Unless you use it while you have it, you lose something.

Understood.

Should have also specified asking about people's opinions on these additional features.

Anyone use adaptive cruise who didn't think they'd ever use it?

This question comes up alllllll the time. IMO yes it's absolutely worth it. First off the technology package is cheap, like $1600 bucks and you get several functional and safety items. Second, why would you want to get a near 50 thousand dollar high end model without all the options? To me blind spot monitoring and adaptive cruise are awesome features that I use daily!! Third, I believe having a fully loaded vehicle absolutely helps resale. For example if I were in the market for an Overland right now I would not even consider buying yours because it does not have adaptive cruise and all that cool stuff. And again, this package is less than two thousand dollars. On a near 50k vehicle that seems like a bargain for what you get. In a way that would sort of be like wanting a new Corvette, but wanting it to have a 4 cylinder lol. Well same concept applies to a luxury vehicle.

I would rather have the options and not use them, then not have them and wish I had them. To me it's a no brainer, get the loaded Overland.....and you get to have it sooner:-) easy decision

I think it's awesome, especially the ACC and BSM.

I'm glad that I ordered my Jeep with it.

Well worth it for me. Whenever we take road trips to SD, LA or Vegas, I always find myself using the cruise control. I hate having to always adjust my speed due to the clown driver in front of me going slower for no reason or someone deciding to get in the fast lane and go slower than traffic in the other lanes. All the other options that come with it are just icing on the cake, but this is the main reason I decided to get it.

I'm in the same boat actually and I think i might order it without just by choice. I guess it's something sort of worth having, but it's very unnecessary to me.

Question, without the option, does it change the front grille at all? Isn't there a sensor in the front grille for these options?

I absolutely use those features...and like them a lot. ACC took me about 100 miles to get used to, but now I'm a believer. And even if you don't use them a lot, they should benefit at resale time.

Yes, there's a sensor in the middle of the bottom front grill for the ACC and FCW. You should be able to make that out in my signature photo below.

What's not to like about getting your new GC tomorrow instead of waiting, either? :D

What happens when you don't have that sensor in the front?

The sensor is part of the ACC/FCW system. If it doesn't exist...those features don't exist. And yes, you do need to clean it off occasionally as dirt will impair its function. The EVIC display will, um...display...a warning should it sense that the, um...sensor...isn't sensing. :D
