Agreed to the terms of my new '14 Overland today

So I just bought a '13 overland about 6 months ago. I looked at quite a few vehicles at the time and the saddle interior w the dash trim sealed the deal. I love my '13 and am still not sure I won't regret giving up the saddle interior but I just couldn't get over the new nav so I went this morning to test drive a '14.

Here goes the review - guess by the title you can figure the outcome. Let me start by saying the '14 do actually look better in person (w the upgraded LED head lights they really don't look much like the compass). Overall I didn't think there was THAT big of a difference. The new headlights are nice - they have a great appearance on the road. The rear does look an awful lot like the durango but the sales rep this morning said the durangos are about to get a new rear end as well. I'm not so happy there's quite a bit more chrome that I'm going to have to pay to have paint matched. I didn't notice the interior being any more quieter or plusher like many have said - it looked and sounded identical to my '13. I actually heard a rattle somewhere in the dash on the '14 I test drove and I don't have any rattles in mine. I was super happy to see they brought back the power steering column. I'm bummed they did away with the rear pop glass and the new key fob isn't as good either in my opinion - it's bigger, heavier, and thicker. The new gear shift def takes some getting used to. The golden hue trim compared to the silver is so minimal in my opinion, but they are both still avaliable. The bluer hue interior lights are a little better than the green imo. The engine (I have the V8 and test drove the v8) and trans were almost identical as well - the only difference I noticed was when accelerating on to the highway on an incline - it def had a better pep. On the street cruising through town both in Sport mode, I didn't see any difference. I didn't like the cluster screen - I like on my '13 that I can have my speed as well as an additional piece of info, on the '14 it was one or the other. For everyone mentioned they don't like the cd player in the console b/c it takes up all the space - you can get it w/o. Lastly, I do find it rather annoying that all the seat heater/cooling functions are now through the screen but I assume the more you use it the easier it will become. The steering wheel is also nicer and more comfortable that I thought it would be.

After all of that, there wasn't enough to make me say I have to have it. The Nav was awesome; especially after going to the '13 GC from my F150, I def missed my huge Ford My Touch Nav, but I love the saddle interior. The only way I was going to do it was for them to give me the incredible deal I wanted. Well they did, they gave me more than I thought I would get for the '13 and gave me a great price on the '14.

Now, just waiting for the truck to come in the next few weeks with the Black Overland w blue interior. If I don't like the blue interior, going with the black on black.

Below area few shots of the '13 and a few of my past loves as well . . .

If you select the analog speedometer, you can choose all sorts of info that will reside within the circle. It is selected with the buttons on the left side of the wheel.

You can also use the smaller digital speedometer and display other info like MPG information, that is what I figured out on our test drive... I'm sure it will take while to figure out everything when we actually get ours.

I'm confused - nothing you said makes me think that you'd go for the 2014. Was it just the "deal" that got you? Just curious.

I agree on being confused here...You pretty much said nothing was all that great and seemed you liked your 13 better than the 14 overall. In my opinion there are only 2 reasons you did the update...1. You got one hell of a deal to make it worth it for things you didnt like or 2. You got money to spend and just had to get the new one (like keeping up with the jones).

Why would someone upgrade from something that they like to something that has alot of negatives or equals (from your review).

I was saying overall I thought they were quite similar. Most of the reviews I read on here were making differences seem quite vast and I didn't feel that way.

I made the switch b/c yes, the deal was too good to pass up and the Nav sold me. As for the new cluster, now that I've seen it can do more that originally thought, that's an additional plus.

Just curious how good the deal wAs because I'm in the same boat. How much did they give for your trade? Thanks!

Ya. Let us know the deal you got. I love my '14 V6 but I'd be tempted when the diesel comes out. :D

I got $40K for my '13 w 1600 miles. Loaded except for adaptive cruise and rear dvd. I was only expecting about $38. I got the new one for a bit over 2% under invoice.

thanks - I'm def a bit obsessive with my trucks. Unfortunately I never really get to truly enjoy them before I'm on to the next project due to fear of scratching or dirtying it up.
