FYI-Don't buy a 2014 V6 for the gas mileage.

The 5 speed did about the same from what I'm noticing. So far the benefit I'm seeing from the 8 speed is much smoother shifts and a better overall match to the V6. I drive 40 miles a day in which 36 miles is at 72mph and cruise control. With over 1200 miles on it so far I'm averaging 17.4mpg. That isn't bad I just expected a little more I guess. Its not like Jeep was pushing it off as a huge increase in fuel efficiency. It does shine on long trips and 40mph city driving. Just go buy the V8!

but does some of it have to do with the winter gas formula?

After reading this I went out and looked at my dash. Only 280 miles, mostly back and forth to the dealer and body shop, it reads 17.2. Only about 60 of those miles were highway.

I still wouldn't give up on yours getting better with time.

Is winter gas really much different? I do a minimal warm up and never let it sit and run. Maybe I'm having some regret for not buying the Hemi! My driver's side heated mirror doesn't work is my only quirk so far.

I'm averaging 18.5 on my V6 with 250 miles on the odometer. 60 miles daily, 40 highway

Cruise control is much worse for gas mileage than a conscious driver. Take cruise control off and let yourself go down to 70 on hills. Cruise always tries to keep you at an exact speed and is constantly on and off the gas to do so. I bet you'll see at least a 2mpg increase when you shut it off.

Cold weather in general will hurt your gas mileage by a decent amount. Once 50 degree temperatures get here, you'll probably jump another MPG or two.

Yeah good point. Had one of those gas guzzlers. Personally I think they are holding back on how good it could do on the highway. They are being forced to improve slowly in which they are doing.

Well the '12 was rated at 23 when the actual was 23.487 so the '14 only needed another 1.1 MPG to be rated at 25.

That said I average 23-24 at left lane speed in cruise on the Turnpike & I-75 with the a/c going and do not think I have ever gotten less than 19 around town (measured, not EVIC).

At 72 what rpm are you turning ?

Wow surprising. Are the dash computers generally close to real measured MPG?

It's scary how accurate it actually.
