Holes around tailgate frame (what are they for)?

1 Attachment(s)
I noticed two threaded holes on each side of the lift gate opening (visible with the lift gate open) right where the Opening frame mates with the rear bumper cover). Does anyone know what is supposed to be in these holes? It looks like a plate of some type.

I'm trying to attach a photo, but I'm not sure if it will work.

not to sidetrack or steal the thread but does anyone have a part number for the rear lower panel in the trunk. You can see the corner of the brushed aluminum looking piece in both photos. In the second it is wear the hook is for the cargo net. I have a laredo and would like buy this piece to add a little extra to my trunk. thanks!
