4.7 Dropped for 2010

I'm very surprised by this. Seems like there are a lot of 4.7's out there.

They don't need it, apparently the new V6 is gonna have enough power that will make having the 4.7 pointless.

They still have the 3.7L? I was told that the 3.7 will be replaced with the 3.6L. I'm shocked that they are going to remove the 3.0L from the U.S. line up.

In my opinion they should have killed the 3.7 and 4.7 in 05 when they came out with the redesign. It would have saved chrysler money and every one of those motors gets the same gas mileage when you look at it.

chrysler should not and I repeat NOT have thrown away the inline 6 ( Thanks Mercedes  )

this move makes complete sense as far as the economics of running the business goes. A majority of people are buying the 3.7 for "gas efficiency"... and the ones who opt for the 8 are more likely to go for the hemi.. They drop the 4.7 manufacturing, save money there, and then get benefits from increased production of the hemi in buying materials in larget quantities.

They should have replaced the two with the Dodge Nitro's 4.0L

The I-6 was a old tried engine. The gas mileage was piss poor and the power wasn't better. The 3.7L was a better engine then the 4.0L

I've been passing poeple on two lane roads with stock everything hitting 80 with the A/C on every time and I'll just check the gas mileage tomorrow for ya. :)

I think the 4 liter just needs a good transmision.

Sad to hear...but I'm agree with everyone....people who want the V8 usually goes for the HEMI...so its a logical move on Chrysler's part...

If chrysler couldn't have a really efficient V6 option for the jeep in 05, it should have only the HEMI. TO me, there was no point in chrysler r/d and manufacturing to have the 3.7 and 4.7 which were basically getting the same efficiency acorss the board. The srt ofcourse would only have the 6.1.
