Replacing copper trim on MY14 overland with silver trim

How difficult do you guys think it would be to replace the copper trim on the black interior with silver one?

From what I have seen I would need to replace the door open handle surrounds, ac vents, center console trim, steering wheel trim and instrument panel surround.

Just trying to get a feel of how difficult it might be if I decide to do it once I have my truck for a few months.

I'd like to know how difficult it is to remove the trim pieces. I've thought about hydro-dipping them with something like a brushed aluminum. The silver dash trim on my Ram will soon be dipped with a diamond plate pattern.

Man, when I sat in a 2014 Overland with black interior that silver trim with a slight bronze hue looked soooooooo good. You sure you want to switch that out for the bright silver plasticy looking stuff? When sitting in the Jeep it looks so good and its not overdone even the slightest.

I used to work in a auto electronics installation bay and im willing to bet with how many pieces you would be swapping and some of them being smaller brittle plastics, the chances are pretty high that you will end up breaking some sort of tab or a piece wont fit back in correctly. So keep that in mind when you start removing parts of your brand new Overland.

Here are some nice shots I took of the interior and center bezel of a black interior Overland. I know its all personal opinion, but this looks 1,000 times better than the bright silver ones that just look cheap. Obviously its your car and you can do as you like, but IMO you would be degrading the look of your brand new Overland and more than likely breaking atleast one tab while doing the swap. I have a feeling your gonna end up loving it anyway so it doesnt matter

You would have to replace the steering wheel and that's not a replacement with matching wood. The only replacement that might work is the SRT steering wheel. But then the brown wood might look out of place. The copper hue is very slight and at certain angles the trim pieces look silver. Plus, the brown and black in the wood works with the copper hued trim pieces and black leather in my opinion.

I say on an overland with black interior as well and it does not look bad. I guess it's more of me being used to silver trim on all my previous vehicles. I do plan on giving it some time after I take delivery before I make any final decisions. The little time you get on a test drive on it is not enough to really get a day to day feel on it. I guess it has more to do with a personal preference for me. And you are right, not too sure I want to be picking at the small pieces on my 50k car just for being a little picky.

I was not sure how the steering wheel was built but I was thinking I was going to have to replace it. Which probably is not worth the money when I have a working one. Just gotta learn to like change and be different from most vehicles out there. I just need to give I a real shot after I take delivery.

I was worried about the copper color initially, but it has grown on me and fits in well. Depending on the lighting, it will look silver and I think the copper works well with the polished silver trim around the cupholder and center stack.

AFAIK, the real "copper" trim is exclusive to the Summit with the brown interior, although I certainly could be wrong about that. But the regular "silver" trim has a slightly golden hue to it, even in my MY12 JGC.

From all the pictures I have seen it is copper trim. It has been more noticeable when being hit by direct sunlight. But I dont see any gold hue to it. Comparing it to the trim from the black interior on the overland to the brown interior on the summit, the trim is identical in color. (Brown interior left - Black interior right)

What about on a 14 limited with the Lux II? I was assuming this wasn't an option and I would be receiving bronze. I just placed my order last week...can I get this changed to the silver?

Only the black interior with the Summit gets the silver trim on the inside. All others get the bronze trim inside with the black. No way to change that.
