MOPAR Rock Rails Installed - Picture Laden

After a long, long wait to even get the rock rails into stock - and a tortuous installation by a nearby Jeep dealership - the installation of the MOPAR rock rails onto my 2012 Grand Cherokee Overland is now complete!

For those wanting differing aspects and views of the rock rails - I created this thread to help provide that for anyone interested.

Looks awesome. How do these compare to the RockyRoad ones? Are these wide enough to use as a "step"?

Re: MOPAR Rock Rails Installed - Picture Laden

IMHO the MOPAR rails are much sturdier than the Rocky Road version of their sliders or supersliders, plus the MOPAR rails extend along the full length of the body versus the RR. Probably the Rocky Road sliders or supersliders are much easier to install though.

These are wide enough to use as a step, and much more rigid than the side steps are.

What do you mean by torturous? They were that hard to install?

Those are the same ones used on the trailhawk correct?

Nope - these are the MOPAR rock rails spec'd for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. It took the dealership over 12 hours and some work was never finished, like the plastic cap on the front end of the rails.

If that is case what is on the trailhawk? How is different?

Look it up, Mopar accessories:

GC Rock Rails: P/N # 82212157

Trailhawk Rock Rails: P/N #82213525
(same as production trailhawk)

Thanks for the pics. I heard it was a decent job to install. Overall are you happy with them, or are there things you would change.
Do they scratch easily? Also am I right in that clearance does not change at all?
Cheers, Paul

Re: MOPAR Rock Rails Installed - Picture Laden

So far, no scratching - very well built and durable. No clearance changes - although they stick out from the body so anyone opening a door into your Jeep will get an unpleasant surprise!

I noticed on the Mopar site there are no rock rails listed for MY14. Is this common in the early days, or are they really not going to put out rock rails?
