O/T - If Considering a '14 JGC V8, but Worried About Gas Mileage - Quick Fix

I'm still debating between an Overland or Summit and V6 or V8; Most likely will go with a Summit V6, simply because of H/K sound system and better gas mileage, respectively.

However, should you have already purchased or considering purchasing a V8 but worried about the horrid 17mpg: Get a, 'beater' or a city car at 50mpg - Just picked mine up on Monday.

Now, once all the bugs are fixed in the JGC, panel gaps are corrected and of course the Union Workers sober up, I'll be picking up my Summit V6.

This is my plan as well, but I plan on probably getting a Dart instead of a Yaris.

Gentlemen, you have to give me a little more credit than that. Not a Yaris, it's a new '13 Prius. Got a hell of a deal on it too. Oddly enough, I love the thing. I've been beating the hell out of it for the past few days and getting 50mpg while doing it

Haha, I just assumed. To each their own though but I'm not sure how you climb in that after riding in an A8 or Summit. Granted I've never driven such an animal... I do have a question though, is the depreciation hit you'd take after you sell it and the extra insurance offset the gas savings? Few of my friends did that when they had large trucks. But they were buying up 5-7k rides. I'm still not sure they realized any savings.

No arguments from me in that respect. But, let's face it, no one buys these things for their looks. Pretty comfortable with a lot of features and space too.

I can't tell if this is a serious post or not.

You spent what on the Prius, $15k? You spent $15k to save $1k per year in gas? Plus additional insurance, plus sales tax, plus town tax, plus depreciation, plus maintenance.

This is as silly as selling an SUV to buy a vehicle that gets better gas mileage...nobody will ever make up the difference in fuel savings.

And the worst part?...people can see you driving a Prius. :-p

Good question as I very carefully went over the numbers before pulling the trigger. You can sell a used Prius, even with high miles, generally over their depreciation rate.

I come out better a month for fuel and payment and can still sell it easily if I chose to. I plan on keeping it for a while, especially city driving as the A8 and Summit are both large vehicles.

Lol. Exact thing I said to my wife. But, if I worried about that, I'll hop in my A8.

But seriously, not a joke. I leased it for $265/Month, Nothing Down at 15k miles/year. Three fill ups at $40 each (600 mile range) and I'm less than $400/Month. Probably the cost of gas alone on a V8/Month.
