2004 voltage leak

4.7 2004 WJ .....Weakened battery condition in 3-4 days of sitting idle. At times needing a charge to start. Battery (12.22) volts after charge and alternator (14.22 running) volts check out good to go. Any ideas / experience here? Thanks in advance.

Re: 2004 voltage leak

Looks like the battery is the problem Battery should be showing more than 12.22 after a good charge. But it all depends on the battery under load, Its not only the voltage but the load capacity that counts!!

Re: 2004 voltage leak

I wouldn't condemn a battery that has been drained down for only being at 12.2v... the problem is clearly an ignition off draw that replacing the battery will only kill the new battery... your going to need a DVOM and some understanding of how circuits work and what to look for. I am sure you could look up information on how to do an ignition off draw test on the Google, but Im not even going to try to explain how to do it here. Doing the test and understanding the results and knowing where to go from there is not something a little type here will explain. May be time to get it to a shop!
