Front End Mods

Well the other day I got a request to take a picture of my Jeep with the brushguard headlight loops removed. I removed the loops and decided that while I had them off I'd fool around with the headlights. Someone had been nice enough to photoshop tinted headlights onto a pic of my rig and I liked the looks so I went ahead and tried to do it using the leftover VHT Nightshades spray from my tails.

With (sorry, muddy):

Without:

I spent almost 2 hours getting every line taped out perfectly, sprayed, let it dry, repeated until it was the right shade. I let everything dry and began peeling off the tape...F%*K! The masking tape had somehow let the spray leak through a bit and the edges looked like straight sh!t :swear_mad: Note to self - tail light tint is NOT good for headlights...

I had places to be so I had to ride around looking like a fool with my fugly headlights. The paint turned out to be obviously blotchy when I turned on the lights and I was dying to get it off. Used a bunch of lacquer remover and got it off for the most part but I left the turn signals blacked out (still need to go back and finely detail the edges there).

That was yesterday. Today my Stealth chrome turn signal bulbs came in! Super quick install and BOOM! Sexy headlights!

Still might go back with some other sort of tint, be it vinyls I'll have to custom cut or another brand of spray, to smoke the headlights but they're not bugging me so much now :D

So eBay Hunter Brushguard without loops on - pretty nice, debating keeping them off.
VHT Nightshades for headlight tinting - bad review.
Stealth Bulbs - approve!

the blacked out turn signals looks great! Try Lamin-x. They make headlight covers for the WK. i would remove the headlight when doing that unless the VHT comes off easily if it gets on the bumper or side

Thanks!

Ooo, I'll look into Lamin-X. I got a bit of the spray on the grille cause I didn't tape a part of the newspaper down well enough and the lacquer thinner took it right off thank god. I just don't want to have to deal with replacing the wheel well pins and go thru the whole ordeal of removing the bumper but I might do it next time just to make it easier to spray evenly.

Preesh! I have to thank someone from another forum who pointed me in that direction. The amber's always bugged the crap outta me and now I love the clean look.

Ya, I realized that when I found the Jeep specific ones. Long as the eBay ones are pretty similar in quality (how much variation can there be in vinyl?) that would be the route I'm leaning towards - cheaper if they don't cut cleanly.

next time you paint, try some of this http://www.frogtape.com/
you can buy it at lowes, home depot, and most paint supply stores. it works so much better than masking tape or even the blue painter's tape.
