Transmission leak help
I have a 2005 Grand Cherokee Laredo with 62000 miles. Noticed my transmission was leaking. My husband replaced the electrical connector housing for the wiring that goes into the transmission. Seems very common leak for these transmissions. Anyway he refilled the transmission fluid but now the transmission is only staying in 1 gear. The leaking has stopped but so has the shifting.:confused::confused:

Any ideas? Maybe need more fluid?

Re: Transmission leak help
First thing I would do is disconnect the battery for 5-10 minutes to clear the transmission computer. Then you'll be able to figure out whether it's a mechanical or electrical/computer issue based on whether the transmission shifts after the battery is reconnected.

Re: Transmission leak help
Not a bad suggestion brent.... I would want to reinspect the connector and make sure it is in, seated and the latch is properly seated.

What engine do you have v6 or v8? I'm assuming since its Laredo you don't have a hemi

Its a V6 engine. Disconnected the battery for 10min and its still not shifting. my husband is going to reinspect the part.

On the jeep commander there's a common issue with that connector on the nag 1 trans
