Just got off the phone with my local deal for a 60k service quote on my 4.7L '06 WK.
Keep in mind that I just got new plugs about 5k miles ago as well as a brand new rear diff., so I took those off the list.
Had the usual list of things I expected: t-case and tranny fluids. But I wasn't expecting a fuel injector service to the tune of $270. Can anybody comment on this? They also recommend replacing the PCV valve. No symptoms yet for that going bad though.
Total quote was $800.
Re: 60k Service
I'm not sure about the 4.7L, but the 5.7L requires the PCV to be replaced AT LEAST at that interval. The PCV system on the 5.7L is horrible though (hence the classic need for the catch can). In either case, the PCV valve is usually like a $20-30 part and like a 2 minute install job, if that.
As for the Fuel Injector Service, chances are they're putting in a bottle of fuel injector cleaner and possibly spraying out your TB. I'd drop that $270 and run over to your auto parts store and spend $9-20 on 2 bottles of Seafoam (depending on specials and prices that week). Then I'd do the full seafoam treatment by putting a full can in the gas, then 1/2 in the brake booster, and the other half in your crankcase (provided you'll be doing an oil change in the next 300 miles). Just my $0.02. Dealers are trying to rob you.
Re: 60k Service
Buy yourself the proper tools and plastic drain pans. Do it yourself and save lots of money. Much of the stuff is so easy a cave man can do it. Other stuff is easy but takes some patience. I service everything on mine and I'm no master mechanic.... Where there is a will there is a way.
