30k Miles Service Questions...

Hey fello Jeepers,

My WK just rolled over 30k so I'm trying to gather as much information to tackle this myself.

1. Have anyone went to a dealer to do this? I called 1 Local dealer (Bayside Jeep NYC) and they quoted me $1100. Was going to hang up after i heard the 1 Thou...but curious to see what was involved. Heard a bunch of BS things not mentioned in any of the service manuals. Which leads me to #2...

2. Cant find my owner's manual but this is what's involved in the 30k tuneup from WKJEEPS.

 Change the engine oil and engine oil filter.
 Rotate tires.
 Replace the engine air cleaner filter.
 Replace the top row of spark plugs (4.7L Engine).
 Replace the spark plugs (3.7L and 5.7L Engines).
 Adjust parking brake on vehicles equipped with four-wheel disc
brakes.
 Inspect the transfer case fluid

Is this the same in the manual, anything missing from it?

--I plan on doing the sparkplugs myself and replacing the engine air cleaner filter. Besides what are mentioned above, anything you guys recommend?

Here you go bro
Jeep Grand Cherokee WK - Maintenance information and schedules
I did the 30k service.
#1 spark plugs -$30 at the dealer
#2 transfer case fluid - atf+4 - $10 (mopar)
#3 front/rear diffs(axels) - 75w140 synthetic - I used valvoline, about $12 a bottle (you need like 5 bottles)
#4 engine oil/filter
#5 tire rotation

I payed about $140 for fluids/oil filter/spark plugs and I payed $100 for the labor.
$240 is nowhere near $1100. Just buy all the required fluids and take it to your mechanic
I changed the spark plugs myself, 15 minute job

I have quadra drive and my tranfer case takes the nv 245/247/249 fluid... Not ATF+4. Better check your transfer case to see if you have the nv 245. Not sure about quadra trac. That dealer is smoking crack... $1100 for 30k tune up... Yet another reason why i will never go to a dealer again for service.

I know this post is a little old but I'm just curious if you ever found a place to do it?

^Yep, one of my pop's mechanic friend. It's a place in elmhurst...small shop 2 door garage, not the greatest looking shop but he gets the job done. PLugs/Tcase/Diffs.

I dont remember exactly how much but I want to say under $150(including tip). I brought all my own fluids and plugs. PM me if you're interested and i can get you the addy later tonight.

Why are people replacing plugs at 30K?
I put 150K on my LS1 WS.6's plugs and the car still got 27mpg on the freeway (windowsticker claims dead-on) with no loss of performance.

Most plugs are 105K service.

Are the one's in the 5.7L Jeep's different?

Engines are harder on plugs then from other brands

THEY ARE COPPER PLUGS and only good for 30K.

and they have to stay copper or your shit wont run :slapfight:

i cannot tell you why but its a KNOWN FACT that you must replace with exact plugs.

SRT8 excluded from these findings.
