I think hemi.jon is! I have the 3.5 and think its AWESOME!

From what Ive read...We really dont need the 4 unless you plan to do some SERIOUS engine work!

Re: 4" Bwoody CAI 5.7
a cam and some race ported heads with the 4" Bwood would make the 5.7 a rocket

Re: 4" Bwoody CAI 5.7
I've got the 4" one on my 5.7, and I am enjoying it. Throttle response is noticeably improved. In town mileage went down as I can't keep my foot off the go pedal. On the highway the acceleration is great at speed. It's much louder than the factory airbox over 3k rpms and it deepened the sound of my Magnaflow cat-back as well. I considered the 3.5: one, but I liked the one piece design of the 4" intake better. Either one you choose, you'll be all grins.

Sounds cool. Throttle response is a little better. To say there are any really noticeable gains would be silly in my opinion.

If you have 300 bucks to burn and want to have a different sounding Jeep, then buy the intake.

Re: 4" Bwoody CAI 5.7
from past experience, a cai alone wont do shit, but a cai combined with a tuner and exhaust will. when i started modding my mustang i put an intake, throttle body, plenum, full ehxaust and didnt feel ANY gains, but i put the predetor tune on it and HOLY SHIT! my point is, your really need a tune to get any gain out of bolt ons.

Re: 4" Bwoody CAI 5.7
Yeah I have had the 4" Bwoody on my 5.7 for about 3 weeks now. It works great, its worth it and i love it, BUT dont be suprised if the IAT extension you are sent with the intake DOES NOT work. It seems numerous people who buy this intake from Mike at Bwoody get a iat extension that wont work. I had to splice wires, as did everyone else who got the 4" bwoody. Truth be told-after i spliced some wires i never looked back and it works great, no issues, but id bet that Bwoody knows they dont have a iat extension to fit the 5.7 (only the 6.1) yet they keep sending it out.

Re: 4" Bwoody CAI 5.7
what about the short ram? do you have to splice wires for the iat extension?

Parker0395 01-25-2010 06:18 PM

Re: 4" Bwoody CAI 5.7
Yeah most likely, though i dont know of anyone on JeepGarage that bought the Short Ram, since its nearly the same price as the Cold Air Intakes that Bwoody sells.

Heres the issue with the iat- its not that it isnt long enough, its that its the iat for the 6.1 hemi yet Bwoody "acts" like they either dont know that, or they keep sending it out anyway (knowing it wont fit without modification to the wire) It is simply not the right plug. Now if wire splicing doesnt bother you, then bwoody is the way to go

Re: 4" Bwoody CAI 5.7
I think Alf (HEMIBeast) has the 4" bwoody and some nice heads and a really nice srt8 exhaust setup ... he's got a tuner also his chit is tight ... check out some of his threads that should be some good inspiration for the non forced induction 5.7's

if you want something forced induction and ditch the CAI then check out Escape's XRT8 now that's a sweet ride too ...
