Tranny Issue in Jeep Grand Cherokee 2001

Hi,

I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2001. It has automatic transmission. The problem is when i put it on Drive gear from Idle position it does not move immediately, it takes around 5 second and with a jerk it moves. but i dont have any problem with reverse gear.
Also when i slow down at the stopping point it takes a jertk (Thud).
I dont know what's the problem. i have recently change the tranmission fluid and filter.

Any Advise will be of great help.

Welcome to the garage.
For eventual trouble shooting we need to know which engine/transmission combo you have.
Did the problem already happen before the filter change, or only thereafter?
And does it always happen when switching from Park to Drive, or only after startup?

Frank,

My Jeep has V8 4.7ltr engine. this problem was already there before changing the transmission fluid and filter.
it always happens when changing the gear from parking to drive.

Did you use oem filters or what brand did you use?

Do the key dance to see if there is any trouble code set: ignition switch OFF/ON three times and leave it in on at the third time. The odometer will show DONE when all ok, or a fault code. Let us know what you find.
