2014 5.7 Throttle Lag

any body else have a throttle lag on their 5.7s? there is a pretty serious lag when starting from a stop.. gets scary when accidentally pulling out in front of traffic.. any way to combat???

Nope, trip to dealer is required... in fact it takes off almost too fast for me in normal conditions.

Throttle on my 2014 Summit V8 works great.

No lag on mine either.

Any difference when in Sport mode?

Hi - I'm new to the forum and don't know much about these, but is your ECO button on? I noticed that my new Laredo accelerates very slow in ECO mode, which makes sense in trying to save fuel. Turning the feature off makes gives much more initial acceleration, even in D, not Sport.

just tried it with eco off.. still seems to be about a one second lag when i punch it.. doesn't matter if i'm at a stand still or while moving.. in neutral or in drive.. i punch the gas and it hesitates then revs up

Is it set to snow mode or something? I'm sure it resets to auto each start up but maybe some program/setting on the '14s? Once in a while my '12 will get switched into snow mode and it totally bogs it down.

I don't think I have throttle lag but then again I haven't punched it much since I bought it 2 weeks ago -- I have noticed that when I take my foot off the accelerator pedal the transmission downshifts very noticeably, slowing the jeep down dramatically

have noticed that too.. i can floor it, hold it briefly and release before it gives any indication of revving.. will rev up high then unwind for about 4 seconds.. strange behavior

all those saying their's is "too quick" while driving, floor the gas.. delay???
try it from a dead stop.. hesitation then pushed back into the seat

Re: 2014 5.7 Throttle Lag

Many drive-by-wire systems insert a timed delay before accepting accelerator commands--to ensure the driver is not accidently pressing the go pedal by mistake. It is usually related to whether or not the brake was depressed before the accelerator.

Also, could it be the traction control? That much throttle into the Hemi that quickly would likely be too much for the traction, no? I am not sure how the system works, but my SRT8 Challenger was the same way unless I turned off all the traction control completely... holding down the tc button for a few seconds it will ding. Then once off, it would literally sit there spinning tires immediately.

I haven't tried burying the peddle on the Jeep yet as its a week old and although I don't believe in breakin period, I also think that it should age a little before I try snapping a 5200 lb jeep into a rage.
