TrueCar? Any one use this to by their 2014?

This looks pretty good. Has anyone used truecar? Have you had any issues with your trade, etc. The dealer seems very straight forward about it, but clearly is complaining he's making no money, etc. and that "Chrysler" makes them participate. So besides that BS - anyone see a better way to score a deal like this outside of a group grope... err, buy?

2014 JGC Ltd, Sunroof, Nav, Billet Silver, Black Interior
MSRP: 40,580
Invoice: 38,789

Price: 35,881 including 1000 conquest lessee rebate
7.5% off invoice (~5% off invoice before conquest)

I used the true car printout to negotiate my price. Seems like most places were willing to match the price, but then they tried to cloud the selling price by talking about my monthly payment. At the end of the day, I was able to find a dealer that was willing to match the amex true car price and they didn't actually go through the program.

the price you have quoted is really low, I wasn't able to get that good a deal, I believe I was closer to 3% below invoice.

When showing up at the dealer to finalize placing an order what documents will be presented and what will be signed and taken with me when i leave? I'm sure I'll be scrutinizing the agreed upon numbers to make sure everything jives and there's no jive going on other then that it should be a pretty seamless process until the vehicle actually arrives when then I'll again check all the numbers on the documents to make sure nothing has been added I'm guessing.

AAA goes through TrueCar which gave me the same $$ off invoice as going through Costco auto. $200 under invoice... So if TrueCar in your area is doing roughly 5% under... Sounds like a great deal

Used truecar last year when looking for a car for the wife. I found the dealer to be very straightforward on the numbers, MUCH more than our local dealer. The only thing I'd say is that I was told by that dealer that their number includes all rebates, so don't think you're getting rebates on top of what you're quoted. Overall, using truecar was a very good experience.

USAA uses TrueCar pricing for their car buying service. You build the car you want and it gives you the MSRP and their discount price and will also add the $500 current military discount. It then gives you the option to contact local dealers...which I never do. When I took the printouts to my dealer he gave me the TrueCar price and then checked to make sure I did NOT go through the contact local dealer process. He said if I had used that option, the dealership had to pay TrueCar $300. Since I did not do that , he added another $300 to my trade. I don't know if what he was telling me was true or not about having to pay TrueCar the $300 but getting that amount added to my trade cinched the deal.

FOLLOWING UP:
Thanks for the feedback everyone.

I agreed to a deal yesterday. The dealer was nice enough... but unfortunately my car was not in stock and did not qualify for True Car. However, I think I got a good fair deal for my awesome (IMHO) color scheme of Billet Silver over Black Interior, and equipped with the OH-SO-VERY-CHOICE and minimalist option package of 4x4, Limited, Single Pane Sunroof, and 8.4an Infotainment.

Out the door was $37,000 (net of ~$200 passenger and cargo mats value) on an MSRP of $40,600 and Invoice of $38,800.

Trade-in of older model car with low mileage was fair enough.

Felt a little baited and switched but ended up at a price that was (A) more than fair and (B) equal to the next best price quote I had received among ~6 NYC/LI/EastEnd dealerships that I spoke to over the phone and e-mail.

Delivery is next week, can't wait!

Now the questions are (please weigh in!):
- Roof Rack: Rocky Road Outfitters Cross Bars and Side Rails or Mopar Cross Bars
- Mounting V1: Mirror or 12V outlet tap for hardwiring
- What kind of parking garage bumper protection? (Do bumpshox or flexiframes work?)

At first I negotiated invoice price, dealer agreed and I ordered the Jeep, (it should be in this week, or next) Then because of all the time I was waiting I went to the AAA web site and priced out the Jeep using there car buying program and typed in the exact model and options, MSRP was the same.

The cost savings was $1053.00 less than invoice. My dealer was not one of AAA preferred dealers, never the less I went to them with my print out and they meet the price, NICE saved over a grand.

AAA uses TrueCar for there program but the price was less than truecar`s website, worked for me.

I used truecar suggested price as a starting point. I bought my 13 overland for 40k when truecar said $40459.

My process now starts with truecar suggested price, then get two or three dealers to fight each other to get it lower.

I used truecar as a starting point but found that for my market/area, truecar was higher than invoice (but below MSRP). I paid a no haggle invoice price which was quick and easy. In my area, they don't offer invoice very often. Other areas seem to offer invoice or better, but not around here.
