Chrome wheel balancing

Hi all!.....I going to need new tires soon for my 2010 GC Limited. The wheels are chrome ( chrome over plastic over aluminum ). From what I have read these wheels need to be done in a special way with a special centering collet and studs as to keep the wheel centered and not destroy the plastic. I have called two Mavis dealers in my area and they have not any idea of what I am talking about. Has anyone run into this before? (I go to Mavis because they are the cheapest in my area).
Just wondering at this point if anyone has gone to Mavis and had a problem with chrome wheel balancing? I did find another tire co. in the area who knows what I am talking about but very expensive on their price of tires.

the guys at the shop here call them "fingers" they hold the wheel by the bolt hole locations. not every shop has those. I know a guy with a shop & he checked...that kit would cost him $1000 !! he has a roadforce balancer so it might be more costly cause of that , but still. you could check with the dealer, they would have to have a way to balance them.

Thanks for the reply. I will go to the shop that has these "fingers". It's also in my area but very expensive on their price of tires. I just can't believe that a huge company like Mavis has no idea what I am talking about. Must be a lot of unhappy people with chrome wheels balanced by them. Thanks again!

say you have chrome cladding. I've balanced chrome cladded wheels with a standard balancer before. Just make sure they use very high caution.. It will crack.

I am going for the extra bucks to have it done correctly. I will settle for Goodyear Wrangler tires instead of Michelins. Thanks for the reply!

Update..........Went to dealer for a warranty issue and asked about tires. Turns out Michelin tires from them (LTX M/S 245/60/18) are just a little bit more than Mavis. This is due to the fact that mounting, balancing and alignment (if needed) are in the price of the tire. In fact I was able to get them cheaper than their advertised price. Since they wrote the TSB for these wheels I thought it would be best for them to do it.
