Seat Belt Chime on a 2014 Grand Cherokee

We just bought a 2014 Grand Cherokee Overland. We always use our seat belt on the road but there are times when we do not want to use it. Like checking horses and such.

How in the world do you disable it? I saw a thread on turning off the alarm in 2013 and older and it did not work for the 2014. I also saw the clip you can put in but we don't want that either because we do use our seat belt and don't want one more thing to have to store!

Never a time not to wear your seat belt.

Yes, actually there are a few exceptions. When you are in a field with no cars anywhere near and you are driving about 5 miles an hour.

You are right, there are times when buckling up are stupid. I always wear my seatbelt 100% of the time outside of private road situations where I am driving slow and there is zero chance of encountering another vehicle and dealing with multiple cattle gates, or am hunting from my car. I believe seatbelt chimes are stupid and always disable them. The instructions here, near the end of the thread, http://www.jeepgarage.org/f163/seat-...rt8-40585.html worked for me. They are the same as in my old liberty.

Another time when you never want to wear your seatbelt is when you are driving out on a frozen lake to go ice fishing.

No problemo, I told my dealership to disable it when it arrived and they did their new car thing, but they said it wasn't possible, so I just rolled my eyes and did it myself.

I asked this question there and it has not been answered.

What if you want the chime back? Do you perform the same steps?

I have never tried turning it back on in any car i have owned, I would assume the answer is yes, but I know better than to assume. I can't try until this weekend, as my better half has the GC tied up till then. Worst case would be having to swing by the dealership and saying your seatbelt chime was disabled and needs turning back on.

As a Police Officer, wearing the seatbelt was usually a tactical disadvantage, and listening to the incessant dinging was a pain. Sooner or later you would come upon a car that was totaled, or the seatbelts were compromised, and you could take the buckle unit and just plug it in your vehicle. I got mine from a junkyard while practicing vehicle extrication with my volunteer FD.
