Bilstein Strut install, no bumper.
I just installed new bilstein shocks and struts on my 05 WK/Hemi. After fighting with all the seized bolts, I realized that the bumpers are still on the OE shocks that I removed. The new struts are installed without the bumpers on the shafts.
To remove the OE bumpers, I would have to cut the shats on the struts I removed.
Do I need these bumpers?

Re: Bilstein Strut install, no bumper.
If you're referring to the bump stops, then yes you do need them. There are no bump stops to replace in the rear unless you changed coil springs. The front struts will need to be completely removed again, coil springs compressed, and top mounting plates removed in order to install the bump stops if you didn't install them originally. There is no need to be cutting any shafts.

You should have received new bump stops with the front struts. Otherwise, you have to reuse the old ones. Without the bump stops the first hole you run over will either A. Knock a few teeth loose and/or B. Completely destroy the strut.

Thanks for the clarification.
I kinda figured I would be taking the struts out again. I attached two pictures of the removed OEM strut. The second picture shows the close up of the bumper. To remove it, I would have to cut the shaft due to the welded ring.

Re: Bilstein Strut install, no bumper.
No you don't, just simply pull it over the metal collar.
Can spay a bit of lube inside it if you have any trouble.

Re: Bilstein Strut install, no bumper.
^^What he said^^^...Or if you still have the box the struts came in the new bump stops, along with a new retaining nut, might be at the bottom of the box. They're so light you wouldn't think there would be anything else in the box. No sense reusing old parts if you don't have to.
