Still a ticking noise after oil change

hi there

Im still having the ticking noise problem or so called hemi tick issue that i want to resolve.

i have a 2005 Jeep GC 5.7L hemi with 150,000 km on it. I recently changed my oil to a Helix 5w40 full synthetic oil and the tick is still there. Its quiet when it idles but as soon as i drive off it starts again. But in this case it sounds like its getting worse or its just my imagination

I saw they talk about valves and lifters but not sure. I want to know if it will be okay to flush the engine and if any how do i flush the engine?

Can someone please bare with me through this journey to get rid of that Hemi tick. :(

I've heard of seafoam and marvel mystery oil quieting the tick also the hemi is picky about oil I'd run a full synthetic 5w20.

Thanks Hummer

Ill change the oil this weekend and keep you posted :-)

Do i need to flush the engine before i go back to the 5w20?

No that's not needed, before you drain the oil you have in there now add half a can of seafoam to the oil fill than drain it this weekend and put in a good synthetic 5w20 like mobil 1extended performance, you should hopefully notice a change, you can throw the other half a can of seafoam in your gas tank.

Run the seafoam in the oil in there now for a good 25 miles of driving or more song exceed 200 miles. Good luck

Don't exceed 200 miles.

Re: Still a ticking noise after oil change

Good day Hummer

Here in South Africa a lot of people don't know bout sea foam. But I did change the oil back to 20W50 and added a bottle of Prolong 350ml with the oil. I do notice that the engine is running less warmer but the noise is still there. A bit more info for you, when the MDS activates the noise is much louder then when running on all 8. The other thing is when the jeep idles at normal temp you don't hear anything but as soon as she is on low revs then you hear it and as soon as the revs climbs....the noise disappear but when you slow down and give a little bit more gas you hear it again. Its sounds a lot like the exhaust gasket noise but not sure if its that.

Did you put 5w 20 in? 20 w50 is to thick

Yes. Its what on the engine oil cap stands.
