On My Third Front Diff...Fourth By Next Week Since December

I believe the factory installed diff in my '07 is the 8.25 True Trac by Eaton. It lasted around 140,000 miles(130,000 with the lift) before coming apart last December. Had a local Jeep dealer replace it, then went on a 3,000 mile roundtrip to visit family. 800 miles into the trip the new diff began to rattle(heard and felt it through the floor). It managed to stay together until I returned home and had it replaced again(under warranty). After around 5,000 miles, this one is rattling.

Haven't spoken with the dealership yet, just wondering if anyone here knows whether or not Jeep is sourcing these diffs from another manufacturer...if so, who? Or are the diffs still sourced from Eaton?

Why are the not just being overhauled?

I do not know. Can this particular diff be overhauled? Anyway the problem might be something else. Hopefully it is not terribly expensive.

Yes it is completely overhaul-able. Im interested to see what they find! There really should be no reason for repeated diff failures like that especially with whole units replaced.

My guess is it has something to do with your 4" lift.

Agreed, It is the lift, as the angles from the driveshafts are causing the issue. Or maybe it is the tornado you put on the intake lol Seriously, trash that and the K and N hot air intake and put the stocker on, you will be amazed at how much power returns and how much quieter and smoother it runs. The Hemi runs FAR better with the stock intake.
