Erratic transmission

I was coming home today and my jeep started acting up, the transmission would not downshift unless i feathered the gas pedal and it would not upshift without letting off the gas, the rpms were also fluctuating while cruising. I just started it up and drove it again and it is doing the same thing, i get up to 50mph and the rpm is at 3k unless i let off the gas and then it shifts. Im going to take it to the dealer tomorrow, in the meantime can someone give me an idea on whats going on? My jeep just rolled over 29k miles. im going to be taking an 800 mile trip in a few weeks and i dont want to be stranded.:(

Let me know what they find out I got at 13 with just over 8k and mine does it. My dealer couldn't find anything wrong I think it just needs a simple tcm flash.

Re: Erratic transmission

Sounds like your map on the eprom for the shifting sequense.
They should be able to upload the logic to the eprom chip.
If this is the problem it's an easy fix.

Re: Erratic transmission

The problem seems to be solved,The dealer changed the transmission fluid to synthetic, new filter and unhooked the battery for a few minutes and it appears the the problem is solved, it shifts alot smoother and it doesn't jerk when accelerating, they said there must have been crud built up in the valve body or on the shift solenoids causing the erratic shifting.
