'14 SRT Downshifting Shudder / Lurch

I know this issue is already in a non-SRT thread, but was wondering if any SRT owner has this issue.

When I'm coming to stop and the tranny is downshifting between 5-->3 the jeep shudders/lurches during shifts. (Not all the time, but about 25% of the time) The service manager said they would take a look at it in a couple weeks when I bring it in. He mentioned that it may need more break-in time or reprogramming. I have about 1.1k miles in it now.

Did you happen to try and give this a whirl?

I Think I Fixed My Rough Shifting 8sp Transmission

I tried the fuse method and have noticed improvement. Thanks.

Dear DjinnBabba and Others,

Was this ever resolved?

My 2014 SRT has this same issue. Downshifting, starting in 3rd, creates a shudder and lurch during braking. It's not a good feeling. And it seems to be getting worse.

My car is currently at a dealer waiting to be seen by a tranny specialist. They updated the car recall, did a battery reset, a quick re-learn, (basically everything Chrysler recommends), and it still does it. The scary part is, I don't think they have any idea what is causing this, and they told me it is something "internal". Not sure what is going to happen next.

Just wanted to share my experience.

Just got word that they are replacing the Transmission with a brand new one. The car is a 2014 SRT Jeep - 5K miles. Wow. I am very disappointed. The transmission fluid had metal chips in it. Trying to figure out my options.

Pittsburgh, I personally wouldn't be all too disappointed. Even though a transmission replacement is a pretty big component to replace, I would actually be thankful for a couple things.

1) Unlike the poor WK2 V6 folks, you didn't have to drive the thing for all that long before they (Chrysler) finally diagnosed the problem and then released the following flash update for the controller.

2) A transmission swap really isn't all that invasive and is pretty mechanically straightforward with very little electrical finaggling. (i.e. resistant to unskilled tech screw ups.)

3) Assuming that all your problems get resolved with this fix, it's gonna be like butter and you can enjoy your ride is intended. And considering again how little mileage you have on it, you have a ways to go before you can really get to know this big block hellion of a chariot. But to each their own.

I have a good relationship with the service manager where I take my car. Last time I had it in, I had them drive it because of the same issues you guys are mentioning. They said they all do that. I said doesn't make it right though now does it. Maybe I'll have them drain the tranny and hopefully see some metal. Love the car, but that down shifting is crap.
