Can I add a handgrip

to the passenger side A pillar? My wife has some physical limitations that make it difficult to get into the 2014 GC Limited. The 2009 we traded in had the hand grip on the A pillar, the 2014 has it over the door, not on the pillar. I'm adding running boards soon and might as well add the hand grip, if it's possible.

Thoughts, suggestions, etc.?

You can also lower your Jeep. That's one of the reasons I got an SRT. My 88 y/o mom was struggling a bit with getting in and out of the 2011 Limited we had. Then I lowered the SRT with Eibach's and now it's about perfect. The CLS63 I also had at the time she couldn't really get out of either.

The side airbags would prohibit a handle on the A pillar.

Enforcer, I found that out several days ago when I went to the trim shop to check things out. Wiring goes down that pillar, so no deal. We did get running boards and are hoping they provide some assistance along w/ the hand grip over the door.

Thanks for the response!

I hope your mom has the strength in her knees to use the running boards to get in. I mention this because when I had my 2007 Lexus GX470 that has running boards and the A pillar handles, my 80 year old mother could only use the A pillar handle to get in as she didn't have any strength in her knees to boost her self into the seat. Luckily between lowering the rear air suspension and using the handle, I was able to get her into the seat safely.
