Dealership Service Department Sucks...

My passenger door was not closing. Door latch stayed open causing the door to bounce back.

Wife visited the dealer on Saturday (said she would wait). Waited five hours. After 3 hours she spoke with a different service advisor. He stated they are working on it (Jeep wasn't put into the service bay yet). Wife asked for a status again an hour later. Was told the technician that does that type of job was not they that day and has to return on Monday. GRRRRRRR......

Another service advisor stated, "we can update the computer". Cool they Flashed pcm to 68052513am as per tsb 18-012-11.

Monday: Wife returned to the dealership (said she would wait). She waited at the dealership six hours. After 3 1/2 hours my wife spoke to the service advisor to get a status of the jeep (Jeep was not in service bay yet). The service advisor said, " oh I forgot you where still here". At that moment the Jeep was put in the bay. the final hour they spoke with my wife and said, "we don't have the part in stock and we will order it". Frustraded my wife let me know what was happening. To comfort my wife the service advisor once again said, "we can do more updates". They did.....but waited till the end of the day to do this.

Wednesday: Latch was in stock and was told it would be done by 5pm. Wife arrrived at 10am roughly to drop off the Jeep. I called at 430 pm to confirm the repair. Service advisor said, "latch is about to be installed" but the tech. damaged the door panel.....happy if you read this far...I'll give an update once this is all done.

I'd be finding a different dealer. No way would I want longer than 1 hr without and update.

I would complain to their upper management and owner, then notify corporate and find a better dealership. That is inexcusable...

I waited the first time I had to bring mine in for a vibration for about 2 hours before they gave me a rental car. Second time they gave me a rental right away and told me they didn't know when it would be finished. I called the service manager when I got home (car only had 800 miles at the time) and I got the car back fixed a few hours later. Sometimes you just have to speak up a little bit.

That is CRAP. I would complain to management for sure.

Did you buy the Jeep there because if so make sure you talk to the sales manager and let them know if that is the service to expect that you will also buy your cars elsewhere as well.

I smell first service and wheel rotation free.

After getting screwed over once and waiting 5 hours, why would you do that again? I despise my jeep service department too. Very slow to complete tasks and they don't offer loaners. I have to remind them multiple times to not wash the vehicle and they never follow up regarding the status of ordered parts. Ugh. Even a state inspection takes far too long.

I agree.... I would avoid that dealer like the plague, and make it known to the service manager and upper management. Let them have it too when you get a Jeep service survey. I'm brand new to Jeep (coming from an Audi), and that is one thing I think I will miss, the crazy good service the dealership gives you. After using same dealer for a few years, they knew me by name, and would give me a loaner, even for an oil change so I could head out and shop for an hour while oil/filters changed. I think I may miss that.
Way off topic sleepy93, but I like your rims and tires... pretty sweet! What kind are they?? I have a '14 GC on the way and am looking for replacements for the factory rims/tires. Thanks!

First off welcome,

I am an ex-everything else driver since the mid 90s and I wanted to say every manufacturer has bad service departments just not all of them all the time.

There are some good dealerships to get your vehicle serviced it may just take a couple of tries. Just don't put up with crap service..... of course you will hear more about the bad in forums than the good but there are a number of people here who have posted that they love their dealership.

Thank you Willx, I'm excited to be a new Jeep guy :)

I agree. It actually took me going to, and then not staying with, 2 other Audi dealerships before finding one I really liked, and felt like I could trust. It does take some trial and error to find a good dealership lol!

I will be doing the same with the Jeep...luckily there are at least 4 dealerships within a 20 minute drive for me!

I would (and never do) wait for warranty repairs on my vehicles.

I make an appointment, I drop it off, then I drive away with a loaner...and don't come back until my vehicle is fixed. Easy as that.

The only time I would ever wait for service is for an oil change or tire repair.
