Rim Size?

I have a 2008 GC Overland with 18" rims. I have had it in Montana for one winter (4 months) and the chrome/ alloy rims are almost shot! The chemicals they put down to melt the snow also melts (destroys) Chrome/alloy rims.

I don't want to buy 18" steel rims and put 18" snow tires on them. So I'm thinking of getting 16" steel rims for the winter and use my good rims only in non winter conditions.

Will the 16" work ok in the winter? I know I will have a little less ground clearance, but that's not a big deal as I'm not off road that often.

Thanks, CK

16" rims will not fit due to caliper clearance, unless you want them to stick out really far. Also, smaller rims won't result in less ground clearance, that all depends on what size tire you mount to them.

Thanks, The original rims on a 2008 GC are 17" and the 18" are on the Overland. I don't know if Jeep put a larger break on the Overland, but I doubt it. So the 17" should work. Correct? Thanks again, CK
