HID fogs interfering with FM signal???

Ive noticed that when ever i have my fog lights on it interferes with my FM signal on the radio and an FM transmitter... lots of static and it goes away when i turn my fog lights off? Didnt notice it before i installed my HIDs... I also have a shorty antenna installed, anyone else run into this problem??? Anyone know what would cause this? Location of ballast installation? Or because the fogs are reverse polarity?

anybody?

We rarely get the kind of fog that requires using fog lights, so I can't provide any feedback.

what brand HID's do you have? Sounds like they dont have the EMI filter and are interferring with your radio signal.

Got mine from DDM Tuning...

Re: HID fogs interfering with FM signal???

I had the same thing. I also have a shorty antenna. My radio reception with the shorty is not as good as the stock regardless of whether I have lights on or not. When I would turn on my HID fogs I could hear the electrical interference. I ended up taking out my HID fogs because I didn't like the way they looked anymore. Thus, I no longer have an issue except when listening to AM radio with the shorty antenna which sucks pretty bad.

I would suggest quickly removing your shorty and putting the stock on to see if you still have the problem. If it's not as bad or non-existant you know the shorty is a cause. If it's still there, I don't think there's much you can do. I know it is not required, but are you using a relay with your fogs? If not, adding one may help.

Ok ill try that... and no relay with the fogs but i have one for headlights

I can't speak for other HID kits but our ballasts have EMI filters to prevent this from happening.
