New Actuator

1 Attachment(s)
My driver's side rear lock is jammed so I bought a new actuator from Just for Jeeps. Has anyone installed one of these before? For some reason the part looks intimidating and looks nothing like I thought it would. I already purchased the door panel clips. Apparently the actuator is part of the latch itself.

Just hoping anyone had some tips for me.

Thanks.

Re: New Actuator

I have and yes, most vehicles have gone with this "combo" unit.

If you have a trim tool and are careful, you won't break any of the retainer clips. However, they will be extremely tight and require a bit of force to get them to release. I didn't document the procedure and really can't offer any words of wisdom unfortunately. R&R procedure is pretty much straight forward with very limited room once you get inside the door itself to release the latch/lock rods from the actuator. Highly recommend a small light and a mirror to help you see what is going on near the actuator assembly if you aren't familiar with this type of repair. The latch/lock rods will flex enough, but prefer not to be bent to an extreme. ;)
