Parts list to remove the '14 CD player

All the limited, Overland and SRT models coming to Australia come with the CD player as standard. As you can imagine some people do not like this lack of choice and having most of the center console used up with this antiquated piece of gear.
Has anyone managed to find out what parts are needed to remove the CD player and bring the console back to normal ?

*Bin, floor console, with mat, WITHOUT CD player - p/n 68212884AA $124.00 MSRP

*This is what the parts book shows for the console bin w/o the CD player. I do not know if any additional parts are needed/required. Someone will have to be the guinea pig for this mod and take a chance on buying/installing the part... who's game?

Hello,

I am taking my 2014 Overland back to the dealer to have the CD player removed and replaced with a normal bin. Parts were ordered about 6 weeks ago and finally arrived. Will let you know how it all goes and part involved.

Excellant ...

I also want to pull the CD player out of the center console.
I did not want the option to begin with and did not pay for it
The dealer would not remove it by including it on a "we owe" so I want to.

While there are many owners who want to remove the CD player, I bet there will also end up being a handful of owners not having the option who will want to ADD the CD player.

Hi guys...sorry for the delay. I had my CD player removed and replaced with the normal bin. The part number for the replacement bin is indeed the number above (68055891AA) and cost $124, and was the only part needed for the replacement. It took a little over 1 1/2 hours. The new bin has an led light in it to illuminate the box but there was not a harness connection to connect it to per the mechanic. I should have had him connect it to the lights that illuminate the two usb port just below in the back since it was all tore apart. Oh well! Its great to have the huge bin back so I can fill it for of stuff! Hope this helps. Any suggestions on how I might go about selling the CD player? Thanks!

Thank you.
I appreciate you following up on the install.

PS
The part number you referenced, 68055891AA, I believe is motor oil.

I'm still thinking about buying an overland w/o the CD player, but if I buy, I'd wanna add a CD player later only if its smaller and doesnt take up so much space, maybe something similar to the way the Dart has the CD player set up.

This may sound like a silly question, but is that part the exact part that is fitted to a Laredo without a CD player as it leaves the factory?

That is, if you had a Laredo owner that doesn't have a CD player installed and wants one then they could effectively swap it with my stupid player in a Limited and no parts would need to be ordered.
Only the labour would have to covered for both cars to swap bins and rewire.

Correct???????

Hi Dougggg does part number 68212884AA also include the storage bin upper tray assembly that can be seen in the Laredo?

Thanks.
