LED Help - Interior/Reverse Lights

I am in the market to purchase LED lighting, and am overwhelmed by all the different choices. My truck is a 2010.

-As for the LED reverse bulb, I believe it is a 921 bulb, and the brightest is Cree. Can anyone confirm they have used this or have seen anyone with this installed?

-As for the interior lights, I am very confused. Through research, I have learned that supposedly the light will flicker if you don't get a ground in the back? I want to replace the foot well, dome lights, backseat, and mirror lights throughout the interior.

There are many choices on eBay, but I want to make sure I purchase the correct item. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some of the items I looked into, but am unsure as to whether or not they'll be a good purchase..

LED Kits (Interior):
1)2005 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee LED Kit Complete Interior License Plate 9 Pcs | eBay
2)"HID White" LED Interior Bulb Kit Jeep Grand Cherokee 05 06 07 08 09 10 | eBay

Cree Reverse Lights:
1)2X Super Bright CREE R5 Backup Reverse Light Bulb T10 T15 912 921 for Back Up A2 | eBay
2)2pc 3156 3157 Xenon White 25W CREE LED Parking Brake Reverse Light Bulbs | eBay

cant advise you on output issue but im into somewhat into flashlights and can confirm that cree are the brightest
as far as the flicker you mentioned its not flicker but a very dim glow caused by the lack of load that is inherent with leds most people leave a stock bulb in the rear hatch so that there is still a load present

Ok, the glow I figured out through research, would be stopped with installing 1 Canbus LED. As for the reverse lights, I will go with the Cree bulbs, I just need to find a reputable item. I appreciate the input, though.

Anyone else who has bought/installed who had pictures of either or?

I have a set of Cree's installed on one of our vehicles and a VLED reverse light
on the jeep. The cree is much, much brighter than the VLED, however, the
Cree has spotty coverage (as seen in the reverse cam at night) rather than the
uniform brightness of the VLED. If you want max brightness though, get the Cree.

go for the Cree bud!

Leds just look brighter but less output from em.

For the interior light, it will stay a lil dim even when everything is off if you change everything to LEDs. You can leave 1 bulb stock or purchase a Canbus bulb.

That's what I'm leaning towards, just skeptical about the "spotty average" it might provide. I know they will be brighter, from a visual standpoint, but as far as producing light in a wide range, such as with the stock bulbs, that is my only concern. Any other insight would be great!

Re: LED Help - Interior/Reverse Lights

Hi guys,

I went with all LED interior lights from Putco, just checked the correct connection type and ordered them all from Amazon. They also make an application specific lighting for the dome lights. Not the cheapest option I might add, but certainly light up the interior cabin like daylight.

I dont have specific photos of them, but in this photo you can see the dome lights and rear passenger reading lights, which are all LED from Putco.

I only had the light remaining dim in the trunk interior light, so have ordered a Canbus one from V-led (just got the shipment today after waiting for a month, they forgot to include it!).

All other interior lights though fade out like the OEM ones, and IMO are much better than stock .. I installed the following in Putco LEDs:

Putco Dome lights and passenger reading lights

Putco Vanity lights

Then I used these Putco 921 LED lights for courtesy lights and rear trunk light (it comes in a set of two, so ordered a third one).

I used the Putco stick LED light for the glove box light.

I will update photos of the exterior V-leds that I have just put in today (in a separate thread and link it here). that project it still in progress as they forgot to ship some lights, and it turns out that the backup/reverse lights on export models (2009) is NOT 921, but is like the 2005-2007 3157. I also have to still put in the resistors for the indicators .. no time before going on holiday next week!

Re: LED Help - Interior/Reverse Lights

I purchased a kit from ebay to convert the interior lights to LED. They were a very simple upgrade. I had no trouble at all with installing it. Every light came in the kit. I can post the link if you would like.

As for the flickering, I only have a the flickering when one of the LEDs is starting to go bad. I do however have a faint glow from the lights when the vehicle is on. It's really only noticeable at night. The only real way around this is to install a resistor.

Go for the CREE lights for your reverse lights. The ones I have use a little projector at the end of it. They are very bright, and they look awesome. They are great for backing up late at night.

Hey Man,
I also have a 2010 and just finished modding my interior lights. Best bet...EBAY! Footwell bulbs are 906 but 194 bulbs will fit. 194s in the backseat handle lights and i cant remember the dome bulb but you can go to www.superbrightled.com to check the bulbs. Mine look awesome and they're super bright. Buying the bulbs at an auto parts store are gonna cost you $12-$15 per bulb but on ebay you can get them super cheap with free shipping from cali or china. Hope this helps.
