Re: 2011/2012 srt-8

just posted this on another thread, so I will add it here

Hey all

Still new here, but I can shed a little insight on this. I work for the ocean carrier that imports Chrylser, Saab, Volvo, Mercedes, BMW, Rolls, Jag, Land Rover etc (all new commercial units).

I was also in the market to buy a SRT in 2011 but several months ago, I was talking to one of the reps from Chrysler and because of the new GC11 models coming out, total revamp of the GC, adding the SRT was not in something they wanted to deal with. For one instance, the price of the SRT would have increased about 35-45,000. Most consumers would not buy a 85-95,000 Jeep SRT, unless of course you were a Prince from another country.
Secondly, Jeep is pushing the new models to show not only the consumer but the US Gov they the can in fact upgrade the models with less gas emmisions and keep it afforable for the public.
Third, launching the SRT with the new GC model would in fact down play all the new production teams ideas and set Chrysler back.

So if you are in the market for a SRT like I am and can hold a bit, the new models should (if all goes correctly) start showing up around mid 12 or so.

One a side note, there are still numerous dealers who have a large inventory of SRT's so when the new GC's come out and if you search hard enough you should be able to get a very good deal one.

Re: 2011/2012 srt-8

I seen something on WKjeeps.com that said an SRT is possible for 2012 with a more powerful Hemi making over 500? HP. Whatever the exact numbers where it was a huge increase over that the SRT makes now which is like 435? Either way I wont be able to afford a 2012 since im sure prices will increase by at least a few grand so I might have to settle for a new old stock or used WK1 SRT when I get the money.

Re: 2011/2012 srt-8

From what I have heard and read they may offer several versions. An engine with the with the 420, one with 5 and possibly a 6 hundred horsepower engine. Of course the 6 would be a special order and limited run, but if they continue with the norm, it will still be around the same price. The 5+ horse would only run you a few grand more.

Its actually a good thing because SRT designers as well as Chrysler are paying attention to what SRT fans want. They see the mods that are being made and here the suggestions that we are making. Of course Chrysler will cash in on it, but for those who dont know much about modifying a stock car or have the time to put add ons to your factory SRT this is a great addition.

bagwell, your info is piss poor.

SRT group will NOT offer three separate engine choices. I repeat, they will NOT offer three separate engine choices.

Good day

i only see him mentioning 2 different engines and one being a limited run. And how do you know they wont be running them? Do you have any information that state otherwise?

they will only offer the 6.4 If they do any other tuning for special packages it would be something beyond the norm for the SRT group

ONE engine, TWO variants:

- 6.4L with MDS for all SRT8 models with auto transmission.

- 6.4L without MDS for the SRT8 Challenger 6-speed manual.
