im new to the jeep communiy. I got a 98 grand Cherokee laredo v8 with all time 4x4. I was wanting to know good specs for a lift and tire sizes. since they have a smaller chassis and are in some cases easier to role. maybe like a 3 inch lift with 35's on it. and what brands are good for lifts.

For a simple 3", you could do the font to rear kit from Ironrock offroad. Basically use your front springs in back, new springs up front & shocks. I would suggest going ahead & doing adjustable track bars front/rear. Stock arms will be stressed w/35's depending on how you wheel, & you'll need a healthy trim/bumpstop combination. Long arms are easier to fit large tires & small lift because of the way the wheel travel is managed. HTH

Yeah that was the other thing with the 35's is rubbing in the wheel well. And being too big for the suspension. And as for a smooth street ride with out messing that up. So I'm kinda looking for a compromise between street and offroad.

2" budget boost or Old Man Emu type of small lift with springs, 31"-32" tires (maybe a 33"x10.50 w/3.5" lift), skids & Bilstein/Old Man Emu shocks. Make sure all your steering linkage is good, maybe throw in a steering box brace for piece of mind. Best combination of increasing off-road capability while not having a rig that wanders all over the asphalt. Rims with correct back spacing so you're not rubbing control arms when you turn (4" BS recommended). HTH
