WK2's Have Forward Collision Warning Issues

FCW seems defective on plenty of WK2's. When is the TSB coming out? Jeep should recognize this and act on it before it becomes a big deal.

One way to diagnose: Test drive 10 JGC under similar circumstances. See which ones warn you and which ones don't of a forward collision warning.

It works GREAT on my '14 Overland (a couple times it has saved me).

Defective how? In what way do you mean?

Yes, please elaborate. Mine works pretty well. The only thing I'm not crazy about is when a car ahead of me turns off the road to the right and I'll get a collision warning even though there's no danger.

Not to be confrontational, but if the FCW already saved you a couple of times... How did you avoid forward collisions in the dark ages before FCW?

we've been on this road with you before.
YOURS and certainly the FCW of other people may be / definitely is defective. But mine isn't and for most of us it works just fine. It alerted me last night. We've discussed plenty of times how you set it up for FAR or NEAR fields and how you can "safely" trigger it.

Just curious where or how do you expect people to go get 10 JGCs? Dealership lots? Well, crazy be the salesman who is going to let you run into a near-miss collision for the sake of your tests. And if I recall correctly, my FCW came from the dealership set on NEAR without the active braking box checked. The system must first be set up correctly then tested. I am sure others can post the relevant picture on the menu, I am not with my car now.

Sorry but I think your issue might either be a Very Isolated one, or Operator Error. :slapfight:
The FCW system on my 2012 Overland works just fine.

Re: WK2's Have Forward Collision Warning Issues

If I pay 50 grand for a fully loaded vehicle, and the vehicle comes with a 'forward collision warning system', I expect it to pop up a warning at least once out of the multiple times idiots slam on their brakes in front of me on the freeway. Bottom line is, the system does not work or warn me under any circumstance UNLESS I am in adaptive cruise control mode, then it works. Techs at dealerships are incompetent and refuse to fix something if it does not trigger the common error when they run a systems test via a scanner.

There are many other people with the same issue. My point of view is jeep should give it a further look. But who am I to be quick in blaming them when the message board hippies dismiss so easily as well. Common minds think alike I suppose.

At any rate, I am taking the vehicle in this Saturday and will probably get the same diagnosis of 'well we scanned it and there are no errors so it must be just fine'. Well then, how exactly is it a 'FCW system' when you are going 70mph and someone fully slams on their brakes in front of you due to an 18 wheeler blowout and zero warnings go off whatsoever while you barely clip their bumper pulling into the emergency lane to avoid a collision? Does not sound like a working system to me.....

:slapfight: back at y'all non believers!

I think your expectation(s) of how the system should work are different from how the system actually works.

Just curious, but at what distance to have it set up?

I can almost hear Jeremy Clarkson (BBC Top Gear show) saying:
"How hard can it be" ?

Well really...how hard can it be to set it up on the 2014 ? Your mileage may vary and your UCONNECT boxes might or might NOT stay checked. Always operate with the latest firmware revision of UCONNECT to ensure most trouble free functionality.
I don't know how you set it up on the 2011-2013s.

Who/where are the 'many people' you refer to?

I wonder if the fact that you had turned your car toward the shoulder, there was no forward collision imminent.

And, with or without the system, you should still keep your distance.
