I still cant figure this out
I bought a piece of shit 2005 jeep wrangler unlimited. Why do they sell these , yeah never mind money. I still cant figure out whats wrong with clutch or transmission i have already spent close to 1000 for new clutch and labor 2nd clutch mind u. Now when i put clutch in well drive it creeks and squeals now to the put of all the time and when clutch is not pushed in i hear the squeal and it gets worse the more i drive the jeep. This has been a pain in the butt for some time now. Does anyone have any idea what this is? The shop that did the clutch said transmission is going i cant do anything with the noise. Now jeep wants me to pay 260 to find out whats wrong once again. I thought jeeps were supposed to be good vehicles and strong. Im finding out they are a money pit. Now i fear if it is tranny they may say well we didnt do the work so therefore we arent warrantying the transmission lol. Ive already put 10000 dollars into this jeep and its junk.
Re: I still cant figure this out
Did it occur to you that maybe the person who did the work didn't know what they were doing? You knock the Jeep, but are not complaining about the person who did the work.
Did you buy this eight year old vehicle new, or did somebody beat the crap out of it before you got it?
I'm not saying that Jeep makes the most reliable vehicles, but everyone who touches it once it leaves the factory has a hand in its current condition.
I agree with Bill, don't knock Jeep. Manual transmissions take a lot of abuse especially by those who don't drive them well. The person before you may have had years of being hard on the clutch and trans which could be the case in any make. It does indeed sound like a transmission. It sucks and paying for a new trans is a heart breaker. But it will last your forever if you can drive a manual like it's meant to be once replaced. Jeep transmission are some of the toughest considering what the vehicles are designed to do. By the way, I would look further into the clutch shop's claim that they can't do anything about the squeal. Something doesn't sound right with that one. If they knew what they were doing, they could obviously tell if the trans needed attention right then and there when they worked on the clutch. just my $0.02.
