2014 Uconnect issues and such....
 
So I have been having issues since delivery of my uconnect system. Navigation showing I am in Texas, when I live in Pennsylvania, screen going black, no steering wheel controls, Vehicle Phone requires dealer service, loss of all presets, Bluetooth not working..all sorts of issues…Radio has been replaced once and goes back to the dealer on Monday yet again. I did get a call from Chrysler stating I was now part of the “enhanced customer assistance program” not sure what that means, but I was assigned a case manager with her direct # and email address. They are also providing a rental car until this issue is resolved. I love the vehicle, but the Unconnect system is just having so many issues….

yeah I think so...lol..just so frustrating still having basically all the same issues even after the unit was replaced....

To me, this is a case of throwing parts at the car because they don't really know what is causing the problem. Physical electronic components in general have a pretty low failure rate. Software failures don't have the same track record.

What will happen in some cases, unless they look carefully at the replaced part, the new part will come with upgraded firmware and the problem will be solved. The tech will report that changing the part fixed the problem.

Mechanics used to say that electrical problems were the toughest to diagnose. Now, it has gone beyond that to electronic and software problems.

I've dodged the bullet on some of these issues, by not owning a cell phone. :D

So the dealer called me today and said they are replacing the radio for the 3rd time? I honestly don't think they have any idea what is wrong. It is getting very frustrating....3rd radio in less than 3 weeks...seems like it is just a bandaid repair as they have no idea what is really wrong...any suggestions?

Please try to determine the software and firmware version of the old radio vs the new. Post over in the the audio section, and Wiilx maybe able to help you with some knowledge and direction. Also some helpful info over there about other folk's problems with the radio, what is fixed by software updates and what is not. Take a look at this post:

See if you think the latest update may solve your problems, once again what is your software revision on the radio installed now? You should be able to find the software version in Apps/Settings I beleive.

I'm new to this forum, so not exactly sure how this works. I was reading about other issues people are having with their unconnect system. I was hoping to ask if anyone else is having a problem with their radio system? My auxillary cable does not work with my iPhone and the radio stations are not coming in clear. I took it to the dealer and they told me that I am just used to the clarity on the xm stations and the static I am hearing is normal on FM stations. As far as the auxillary connection they said to use an iPod instead of my phone which I did and that still doesn't work.I also purchased a jeep patriot for my daughter o. The same day and she has none of the issues I do. My Summitt is only 2 weeks old and their are things that are not working right and the dealer was no help. I also need to mention that when I start the truck every so often it blows out blue smoke, they also told me that was also normal. :( very frustrated would love some advice.

The first thing I would do is find a new dealer. In fact that is what I did after being disappointed with the service department where I bought my Jeep. A good service manager will welcome the business.

Blue smoke on a new truck is not good-common sign of engine burning oil. A dealer telling you it's "normal" is an idiot. I'm with Bill, stay away from this dealer service and find another. Aux cable should work with your iPhone-auxcable cloudberry bad OR the audi put on the unit IS bad. You hold get decent quality from available HD Radio. (XM/Sirius audio quality is not as "clear/clean) as they used to be)

I have a 2014 limited, I use an Ipod touch connected to the usb port in the dash. It works like a champ without issue. It's pretty mucha permanent there, just needed to set up genre folders,not just artist. Album art shows up nice on the display too. As far as the blue smoke, I believe there is a TSB (technical service bulletin) for this. It has to deal with folks who park their jeep on an incline/decline. So, do you meet this criteria? There is a post here (blue smoke), I cannot find the TSB, but her is a good source of info;

So after 5 days got my Jeep back. So far the radio works great, but the damn dealer scratched 3 trim pieces and scratched the leather dash. Needless to say I'm pissed. They admitted they did it, but want to have a company come in to touch up the trim. I refused and said all pieces needed to be replaced. Service manager refused, so now my case manager is working with the dealer. I've had my jeep sux weeks, on my third radio and its been at the dealer 10 days. They are going to replace the pieces or I will get an attorney involved. I know the trim pieces are prob expensive but tough. They messed up, I'm sure they have insurance for these type of things. Thoughts??

My uconnect system has been replaced three times...system still resetting, still getting vehicle phone requires service, today after it reset trying to register with uconnect got error that vehicle vin encountered critical error in database. I am beyond frustrated. I'm working with a customer care advocate and while she is helpful, I'm tired of taking the vehicle in. It's been out of service 2 weeks in the 7 I have owned it. Any suggestions!
